Apparently they weren't going to, but the guy decided late to join them after all. He reportedly then tried to justify hooligan culture in his SG, saying it is normal in eastern Europe, etc and they are just "expressing themselves" or some garbage. This is second hand, I wasn't there, but that's what was relayed to me directly by those who were there. I'd like to know how the commissioner responded or even why a group like that, who makes no secret about being proud of their hooliganism, was even offered a seat at the table in the first place.
I guess when they were invited they kind of laughed at the idea of a meeting or something, but eventually a representative showed up for what I understand. Well is there another Atlanta SC outside the "ultras" that may be contected in the future?
They do indeed. In fact they just posted on their FB page wondering why they were just now hearing about the summit. There's also Eastside 309 Guerillas but I haven't seen much of a physical presence at the games lately.
Was the agenda strictly about traveling fans security? Who called for the meeting? I haven't been to any away games as a Cosmos supporter, do things get out of hand that one should worry for his/ her safety?
How about a list of the "main" SG that are not "ultras"? Please add to the list and/or correct the ones I got wrong. You didn't look very hard to find Westside 109. Some of us don't use the limited Twitter crap. The league found us quite well at the beginning of the season when they did the supporters piece for the website. We've been the same guys that have been supporting the Silverbacks for 15+ years. The same guys that started the Southern Derby ( the one that is now stuck in USL-Pro, thanks Carolina). We are a bit miffed at getting left out from a summit in OUR OWN CITY. We have all ways felt visiting supporters are treated with respect and a handshake, usually followed by a free beer. All the crap with the Ultras we do not support, that is why they are not part of us.
I really should not be upset for being left out. Let's face it we are most likely just going to go watch another league anyways. That is if any of the rumors floating around are true.
Edmonton's rep in Atlanta for the supporters summit is heading the new FC Edmonton Supporters Group the "Loyal Company of the River Valley"(LCRV), Twitter is @LoyalcompanyRV. They're apparently aiming to be a more structured and traditional SG compared to the ESG.
