Okay If NASL is going to Survive It needs to follow 2 Important things for it to Succeed. 1. Soccer Specific Stadiums 2. Youth Academy System So If there are any News area on this front. So If you have any Stories to Report, please Enter here.
eclipse02, I agree with your points above and don't have any news to add. I'd like to remind people of the issues involved with item #2 that the NSC MN Stars had to deal with from the former Thunder Academy that was set up. I've been involved in youth club soccer for years and these things are very tricky. I agree that the academy system is a great thing but it has to be done right and in conjunction with the existing club teams. Otherwise you risk alienating a great number of potential supporters.
Carolina has the beautiful SSS, but they have chosen to align with two of the three major clubs around here. They have camps, but no academy.
Are modular stadiums the wave of the future? Consider that the Whitecaps temporary home, Empire Field, was built in 3 months for about $14mil, and compares favorably with similarly sized (18-22k) permanent SSS in terms of amenities. I would think that a 5-8k modular stadium would be pretty affordable for a D2 owner who had the land to build on. http://the11.ca/2011/05/20/new-fc-edmonton-gm-already-talking-about-new-stadium/#more-2590 Edmonton looks to get new stadium.
This is positive news for Edmonton. They have a solid team on the field and they look to be strengthening the off-field squad as well. I hope they can bring in some bigger crowd$ this summer.
ottawa pdl already have an academy that works with tottenham hotspur plus they will probably get the impact leftovers
