Re: NASL News Speculation allowed? Does BigSoccer know something that no-one else officially knows, that they actually created a forum for the NASL?
Re: NASL News lol I didn't even see that.. I mean yah I noticed it was right above USL but didn't put it in my head that way.. good catch LOL
Re: NASL News Is there in fact a meeting this weekend with NASL/USL/USSF or is this more speculation?
Re: NASL News Here is a fact: Multiple NASL owners are not available for interviews tomorrow due to being out of town. I am hearing that USSF wants all parties involved to not talk publicly and that there is a big NASL/USL/USSF meeting this weekend with a lot of people expecting that we might hear some big news next week, perhaps as early as Monday. I think the meeting taking place part is a fact and the projection on what the outcome will be is speculation.
Re: NASL News Makes sense. USSF officials are probably in close contact this weekend because of the World Cup draw anyway.
Re: NASL News I was also told that Sunil Gulati would be traveling back from Cape Town tomorrow when I tried to line him up to talk about the WC Draw. So, there is another piece to the puzzle that would lead one to believe that a big meeting could be taking place this weekend.
Re: NASL News Just exactly what does USL stand for? Unhappy Soccer League? or Unsuccesful Soccer League? (lol)
Re: NASL News Actually, as president of Kraft Soccer, Sunil will be in Foxboro bright and early tomorrow morning to inventory a new shipment of Patriots throwback uniforms at the pro shop. Them Zeke Mowatt shirts are flying off the shelf.
Re: NASL News If they keep up what they're doing, it'll stand for Useless Soccer Leagues. They may as well change their name to the ISL - Irrelevant Soccer Leagues, as they are in danger of becoming.
Re: NASL News I don't think there is a need to totally bad mouth USL. I mean they have given us a avenue for pro minor and amateur soccer for years. I am grateful for that. Perhaps the time has come to let someone else (NASL) to take the USL1 reigns, which is great. But USL has served/will continue to serve its function for soccer fans. I realize we are still in the transition phase, but lets start moving beyond the "NASL rulez and USL sux" stage". There is so much more to talk about. Like: Tournaments Single Table Player Signings Expansion Teams Portland? Austin? Puerto Rico? Trophies? Soccer Bowl? Thank you
Re: NASL News I was watching USL breakaways on FSC and you can tell that their focus is mainly the Y-leagues and PDL which is a good thing, because youth develoment is so important. That's basically what USL should do, and let NASL handle 2nd division soccer.
Re: NASL News We are still feeling our way, but yes this will be roughly the place to place league wide announcements and relevant news.
Re: NASL News That just presented a great idea... if the NASL does beome the new Division II league in the USA (it would be considered Division I in Canada, as the league would need CSA approval as well because of Montreal and Vancouver's involvement), the USL-2 league could become a feeder league for the NASL, much like the NBDL is for the NBA.
Re: NASL News Actually, ATFCfan, that's what the general idea has been for the last few weeks. In the US, NASL would be Div.2 and USL, left with only USL2 would be Division 3 (and all their amateur leagues).
Re: NASL News Atlantic will do fine, thanks! But, what I was getting at was that if the USL focussed mainly on the PDL and Super Y-League, as well as the W-League. Could it be possible that the USL-2 league break away from the USL as well and remain a Division III league?
Re: NASL News In the printed edition of Primera Hora today theres a article that stated that theres a meet of all four affected federations, Puerto Rico, USA, Canada and Bermuda in the USSF or MLS offices, I'm not sure, this week about the the NASL/USL situation. MLS, USL and NASL officials will be there aswell. According to the PR fed president himself, he is not to keen on what the NASL doing.
Re: NASL News It doesn't surprise me that the PR fed chair isn't happy with the NASL situation, but it's not his fault the Islanders are on the losing side.
Re: NASL News Isn't the head of PR's fed also the head of the Islanders? I can't imagine why he'd be unhappy with what NASL is doing....
