The City Islanders just opened camp this week, by the way. No mention of them playing the Sure Thing New England Force tonight that I can find. Especially when the City Islanders themselves say they are playing Drexel tomorrow night. The Austin Posse reset might have something.
Umm.. decaf time. Just pointing out that the only rumor/fantasy/website for a Conn team is this Force club, whatever they are.
Love how they say they played two USL Pro teams and only give you the result of one game. What's odd is the City Islanders themselves never mentioned playing this game (though they have put out releases about their other games), and the local newspaper didn't cover it (though they covered their other friendlies).
Well, isn't it obvious that the match never happened? I mean, if it did, msilverstein surely would have posted the link.
On Friday, they are playing the Revs first team somewhere in New England: http://newenglandforce.com/newsdetail.aspx?id=30 It is nice to know my team has gotten off to a solid start. That was news to me.
the awful website and not knowing how to create a proper Facebook page makes me skeptical about whether this management group has what it takes to build a solid franchise.
I love the NASL. I live in Ct. Please someone listen and put a team in Hartford. We would be a great rival for Cosmos.
don't think we'll see a team in Hartford anytime soon but it is one of those untapped sports markets that has potential especially in the late spring / summer when Hockey isnt in season and UCONN isn't playing Basketball.
their website now mentions a new management http://www.newenglandforce.com/News.asp?org=newenglandforce.com#455554
I'm from RI, went to three Reds games. I like the way they give players a shot who generally didn't have a chance to get into the college soccer scheme. I just wish they had a lot more financial backing. It's pretty much bare bones. The Revs season was fun to watch for the first time since 2009. But I watched it on tv, didn't make one game. I also wish the Revs had more financial backing.
"There is an investor group that is interested in putting a professional soccer team in central Connecticut." a quote from the connecticut pro soccer facebook page. I personally don't know if I believe it because that is all that was said
Was there a clock timmer running down with the claim it would change soccer in America? or some type of Revolution?
2 reasons why I think Hartford would work in NASL. I would work my BUT off trying to get people to the games because I would be heaven if there was an option to the Krapps team (I think there is huge community of ex disgusted Revs fans in Ct and Springfield Ma) Secondly, I coach in youth soccer and I am amazed how many people talk about hoping that Rentschler gets USL or NASL team. (there are far more educated soccer fans out there than most that post on this web site suggest, futhermore the average guy playing pick games at the local field is typically far more educated about the domestic soccer outside of MLS than the average poster here) Here in Ct, there was a lot of initial excitement about NE Force and then, well the whole thing just got more and more shady and bizarre.
