Serie A Week 26 - 2/3/08 (19.30 UK) Napoli - Inter Stadio San Paolo Napoli host Inter on the back of a comprehensive beating in midweek – at fellow promotees Genoa – but now could be as good a time as any to face the champions who, having not won in three games, could be distracted by their difficult European tie against Liverpool on March 11. The Partenopei were eighth at the championship’s halfway mark. In October Edy Reja’s side claimed the scalp of Juventus but it was clear that the team, which competed in Serie C1 two seasons ago, was overachieving and since the turn of the New Year the Neapolitans have only won twice. Scuffles between the Coach and ambitious President, Aurelio Di Laurentiis, have coincided with a dip in form despite the signing of no less than four players in the January transfer window. Ezequiel Lavezzi, burdened with the expectation of any Argentine forward playing at the San Paolo, has hardly been prolific but is showing signs of sparking into life again after scoring a brace in the team’s last victory against Udinese three weeks ago. But tactical confusion and a string of suspensions have made Napoli an unpredictable animal. Still without first-choice goalkeeper Gennaro Iezzo, the return of defenders Paolo Cannavaro, Gyorgy Garics and Fabiano Santacroce should steady a ship that has leaked 38 goals in 2007-08, only three less than Cagliari – Serie A’s most porous defence. Reja said: “It will be difficult against the Nerazzurri, but we have always played well against the big teams.” Results suggest otherwise. Of the 12 points available against Milan, Inter, Juventus and Roma, the Partenopei have taken just four. Inter are unbeaten in the League since February 2, 2007, and have one hand on the Scudetto after earning an exhausting and last gasp point against Roma on Wednesday night. The Beneamata suffered as Maxwell joined Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Julio Cruz, Ivan Cordoba and Walter Samuel in the treatment room. Roberto Mancini will be reassured to find Marco Materazzi on the plane to Campania given Matrix is unavailable to face Steven Gerrard and the Reds in the Champions League. Interisti should also be worried as the last time the Nerazzurri travelled to the San Paolo in 2001 they lost 1-0 to a goal from Francelino Matuzalem. I really think we need to go with the 4 man back..... 4-3-3 or 4-1-2-1-2 -------------Gianello---------------- Cupi----Santa-----Canna-----Contini ---------------Blasi----------------- Maninni-----------------------Hamsik ---------------Lavezzi-------------- ------Calaio------------Zalayeta---- Navarro Garics Rullo Maninni Bogliacino Sosa It's never gonna happen but I think that's the move to make right there.
I think Gargano is much needed even though he can't pass worth shit at times. 4-2-3-1 Gk- At this point I rather see Navarro Cupi/Santacroce Santacroce Cannavaro Contini Blasi Gargano Mannini Lavezzi Hamsik Calaio/Zalayeta
Hamsik better wake the F up. They were blasting him and Gargano yesterday morning on radiogol. They started off the season so strong, and now thay have been terribly average. I wouldn't be surprised if either one of them don't start.
IDK about that...Pazienza isn't really that good. I wouldn't mind seeing DallaBona, but not against Inter. I think our team chemistry sucks because everyone is out of position.
Zalayeta is predicted to start: He better ********ing show up for this one. Napoli (3-5-2): Gianello; Santacroce, Cannavaro, Contini; Mannini, Blasi, Gargano, Hamsik, Savini; Lavezzi, Zalayeta. All. Reja Inter (4-3-2-1): Julio Cesar; Maicon, Rivas, Materazzi, Chivu; Vieira, Cambiasso, J.Zanetti; Figo, Stankovic; Suazo. All. Mancini
I read that only 2 tickets have been bought for the away section...either they're scared shitless to come down or their away support is total crap. I wonder if my cousin is one of those people in the away section. lol
Why not? Napoli is very far from Milan and not everyteam has a traveling support structure like Napoli. Also the game is on Sunday night meaning they will have to be in Napoli at 11:00 by the time the game lets out and that alone is enough to scare people away from the San Paolo.... hahaha.
Because there hasn't been such a small amount of away Serie A support this season. It won't end up staying at 2 tickets anyway. Where did you hear this information a day before the game?
Looks like Sosa caught the flu bug. If Reja needs to sub Zala, he has no choice but to look at Calaio
i think we hav a chance to tie this one since Inter play Liverpool on tuesday they probably wont play some of their starters or at least take them out at half time or something and last time we played them it was only 1-0
Napoli2000.com Remember the banners they put up about us? I wouldn't dare present myself in Napoli as an Inter fan even if I had nothing to do with it. The away tickets will be sold to Napoli support if they're not filled.
For some reason Inter plays their 2nd leg of the Cl on the 11th, so the following week. I just hope Ballotelli doesn't get any play time because I think he could hurt us.
Shittiest away support in Italy by far. Interisti have no balls.
You guys think that some Inter fan will stream the game from SkySports in Italy. I don't understand why some Napoli fan isn't streaming the games every week from a skytv broadcast.
I thought Napoli home games weren't on any channel? And even if they were, for a single person to stream a video takes a huge amount of bandwidth and memory, so the normal user will find it extremely difficult and if not impossible to stream a video to over 100 people.
No f*cking kidding!!! I've been wondering this all year long!!! You can find a stream for almost any sporting event online, NFL games that are blacked out, etc, but I have searched EVERYWHERE for a stream of the Napoli games on Sky, and no one seems to be doing it, or someone is keeping a real secret!!! If seriea.tv had the rights, I would pay in a heartbeat to get the whole season, but since they only show the away games, its not worth it to me!
Napoli games are shown in Italy on Sky. Napoli has not sold the rights to Napoli home games for broadcast outside of Italy.
There's a good chance it could be streamed since they are playing one of the big three. If you'll remember Napoli-Juve was streamed too
