Right now Vargas looks shit. But I have to agree he needs time.

 

Also, the few times I have seen him with Napoli (and I mean few, no more than 90 minutes added up all together) I see him come in when the opponent has bunkered, he has been receiving the ball too deep to do any damage.

I remember he used to play this deep for us during the 2010 season and he was pretty ordinary, he really hit his stride in 2011 when he was moved up closer to the opposing area (just outside the area) and assisted from deep for him to make the runs to the wings or the centre.

 

Give him some time to practice and build chemistry with the team, he is a great talent from what I've seen. His natural position is CF (I believe he can also play winger), so he is used to dribbling through traffic and most importantly SCORING LOTS OF GOALS . I could see him playing just behind Cavani (sort of where Hamsik plays now). If Napoli lose Lavezzi, then Vargas could fill in for him, but he is not on Lavezzi's level.

I don't think Vargas was a waste of money. Napoli want to be a big club, and this is what big European clubs do - they build depth and bolster their reserves with young, promising talent.

which is why i think he needs to play with lavezzi and not cavani, at least for now anyway, lavezzi isnt the goal scorer cavani is, so if he plays with lavezzi then he can just play more on his own instinct rather than have to think about what cavani is going to do, also he hardly ever comes on like for like, he just gets thrown own with no real thought, like vargas for campagnaro for example plus with pandev on and the trident, he doesnt know where to play in these circumstances

this is impossible to work out right now as he has only played in our system from the start once nad that was 2-3 days after he got of the plane, ther than that when he has come on he has come on with mazzarri's plan b system, i.e plan panic
