well as a hardcore metalhead dying to go to european metal festivals such as

    METALWAY Open Air (Spain)
    WACKEN Open Air (Germany)
    Bloodstock OPen Air (England)
    Tuska Open Air (Finland)
Gods of Metal OPen Air (Italy)

^^there billing is pretty much what the music they are promoting! Metal. These festival only bill heavy metal bands and billing something like rage against the machine even though they are a rock group they have rap in it so it would be strange to bill such band in a heavy metal festival but even that is a bad example like ROck Am they bill SLayer and Jay z??? am sure its not like its Slayer then Jayz I just find it wierd these two completing different genres of music to share the same stage let alone be billed on the same festival.....since metal fans hate rap....but no doubt they both can be at the same festival i just think it doesnt mix......God hates us all with big pimping in NYC together??........

Well, if you look at the major European festivals like Glastonbury, T in the Park, Roskilde, Sziget, Lowlands, Rock Werchter or Novarock you find a lot of genre's mixed together (even though RaR goes a step further including many metal bands that wouldn't make the cut at most of the others). mean just as the ones you mentioned those festivals have different stages, and as opposed to the relative homogenous metal crowd draw lots of different people. Usually it's no big deal thoughz and just one big party, and at least at the German festivals instead of booing at an act you don't like you just go back to your tent and party there. A lot of things that aren't allowed in the US are at RaR or wacken, however, beginning with alcohol up to bringing your own furniture and a little engine to produce electricity. It's good for people like me who like many different styles of music, though.

the one festival that i would really liek to go to now is Bloodstock in England. Wacken was first but their billing bands that are trendy but hey they want to make money nothing wrong with that but keep it true....

Pff, you got all the good bands. Well, you and the British.

What did Alex buy recently? A Virgin Steele album, so here's a video (not from the same album, but whatever):

Germans can't rock, it's in their genes :D. And the number of really good German bands absolutely pales in comparsion to those from the US/Canada and the UK (and really, there's a handful of great bands from pretty much every country). The Scorpions know how to write a good song, but they still have the rock star credibility of a paper puncher.

And the godawful accents... I'm glad about every band from a German speaking country that does it like Krokus or Victory and gets a singer who's a native English speaker :D. Well, in case of Accept, despite the result being not too bad, the idea wasn't the best, I admit (and in case of the Scorpions it wouldn't have been either, but why couldn't they have stayed with the American songwriters they got in the late 80s? Their lyrics made SENSE for a short time...).

I should have specified, by you I meant Europe, not Germany. :D

Scandinavia more than any place. France has some cool bands too.

Yeah, as I said, there are bands from all places. France, Southern Europe, Eastern Europe... Scandinavia has tons of bands, even if you ignore tha black metal sillyness (music from socially awkward teenagers for socially awkward teenagers), and the stuff for the kids (most melodic death and power metal) there remains a lot. But they also have the problem of broken English and awful accents :D (French, Spanish and Eastern European bands simply sing in their native languages, which helps a lot - East German bands did so too, but very few in the West). Unless we're talking about Asian bands here (unless they've got an American singer you won't notice what language it is sung in anyway, most of the time) there's few stuff that can ruin an otherwise good band for me like that.

Yeah, that was pretty under-reported for some reason.

Two new songs that are in my head.

I've been listening to the new She and Him album with Zooey Deschanel *drools* and MGMT's "Flash Delirium".

She and Him's "In the Sun"

MGMT on SNL last week. Great performance. The studio version is just as great.

"Exploring the seas to conquer new lands
    Troops arrayed by the church
Sanctified and blessed they set out
    Crusaders, gentiles' scourge

They fight, they kill, they rape
Under the banner of the 'holy' church
They hunt, they lie, they cheat, thry steal
Doing dirty deeds under churchbell's peal

    Conquistadores -
    - Hungry for gold, doing as the religious madman told
    Conquistadores -
    - Religion's knight, havoc and death caused by pride

Pearls of glass for ingets of gold
    Violence, force and deceit
Taking the wealth or the Indian's life
Their way of feeding their greed

    Heathen must turn to Christianity
    It's like 'believe or die'
    Arrogance and blindless, religion's force
Believers never ask the reason why"

Die Young is my favorite song. I honestly can't say how many live versions of the song I know...

The last song Dio ever recorded has been leaked - it's an unfinsihed rough mix, and it seems it has been confirmed that it's the real deal.

You promise us a bright golden future
You say you will save the world
That there will be no more hunger and pain
But we only see your golden hands
You say you take care of our survival
    Sending us missiles instead
But you just betray us, deny us and lie
And you always say you would

Fight for freedom, fight for rights
I see treason in your eyes.

Judas - rulin' with an iron hand
Judas - sittin' in the government
Judas - I am not a Jesus Christ
Judas - you will be the one who's crucified

    Your worship money and economy
There's nothing that you wouldn't do
If the payment is right you don't care about life
    'Cause economy is your truth
You are the one selling terror and pain
In all the parts of the world
You are preparing the final grand slam
But you keep on tellin' you'll

Fight for freedom, fight for rights
I see treason in your eyes.

Judas - rulin' with an iron hand
Judas - sittin' in the government
Judas - I am not a Jesus Christ
Judas - you will be the one who's crucified

Judas, Judas - are you still human?
    Judas, Judas - I can't believe it
Judas, Judas - dealing with evil
    Judas, Judas
    You'll keep on telling you'll

Fight for freedom, fight for rights
I see treason in your eyes.

Judas - rulin' with an iron hand
