Awesome, let's use one team game utilizing a vastly superior and organized Germany to decide which between two individual players is better.

EDIT: Sorry 4x4, read obviously instead of arguably. I agree in that case, I just don't like it when people try to pass off opinion as fact, with a large degree of force at that. I admit I already have a strong bias against SirM because of his pro-german agenda, which I will work on, but I guess that's none of my business anyway.

Didnt mean to be rude, I wouldnt class him above everyone else but he is amongst the marquee talent we know of or are popular.

About SM, well I am German and I am happy with all the German talent coming up but would be as happier if English talent as good was coming up because they would typically be easier for Man Utd to sign for one reason or as good or better Brazilian talent or Dutch talent to come through both of these countries are known for fantastic players and lacking at the moment.

Good talented players are a joy to watch, regardless of nationality.

No doubt. Obviously Goetze is a great, great talent, but we really cannot compete with the others in for him.

Thing is, Syed, if there was a prodigious talent available for sale(or not) as good as Goetze, like Wilshere, he would cost upwards of 40 million pounds probably, meaning that the answer for franchise players is either home-grown or foreign.

I for one, out of all the young players, would rather have Eriksen, as his style of play seems to me to fit in right next to Carrick and behind Rooney in our lacking midfield. I would be the happiest man in the world if we would snap him up before the Euros this summer where I feel like his stock will rise greatly. I would even take him in ahead of players like Javi Martinez.

Sorry but dont think Eriksen could play in a two man midfield. Infact in a Rooney dominated United I dont see where Eriksen would play at all.
Goetze is a better talent imo and I would say more useful as he would easily play on the flank and be a Silva type player.

Javi Martinez would solve two of our problems, one he would complete our first choice midfield set in a 442 as he would be Carrick's partner, 2ndly he would/could replace him as we have nobody who would do that.

An attacking playmaker who could play on the wings and a midfielder who could play with Carrick and play his role in his absense would be my top priorities in the summer. We dont need a DM because for 90% of the matches he would be useless signing, we need an all around midfielder who can do the defensive job and add to our play as a DM would limit our play in most matches and except Demba Demba we have never bought one (he was also box to box/harraser rather than a DM).

if cardozo wasn't so up there in age he'd be a nice addition to a prem side. The way he manhandled terry all over the field yesterday was great.

I can see why we're interested in Gaitan; Wide play-maker, good on the ball, can run past people and even puts in an excellent cross now and again.

The price being bandied about however...

Is he still injured? Or has he just not been getting a look in?

Their are question marks over wether he'd be available, even if just a loan. Otherwise I'd be down. But I cant imagine, as long as Mourinho is there, that he'd sell him.

EDIT: Vince, he's fit again, I think he started for Madrid yesterday.

I think you're ruled out of this conversation because of your general ignorance on Goetze. You admitted you have seen little of him so no argument would make a difference here.

Regarding my agenda, clearly I love all things German and have never spoken critically of any of its players and clubs. Your fantasy world justifies your viewpoint every single time.

    So does yours. Try again.

You just have 0 control over your bias. And you know what, I'll humor you. I said I thought I hadn't watched him ENOUGH, because from what I had seen the hype was out of control, but I don't have the audacity to think my opinion is absolute. I gave him the benefit of doubt.

The question is, would you have done the same with Neymar, or Wilshere if unfavorably compared to Gotze? That's what i thought.

But it doesn't because I have sufficient knowledge of all players involved. You don't. It's really as simple as that.

You're clearly not revealing the truth about your disagreement.

Anyone seen Eduardo Salvio play regularly? I've only watched him play once or twice in the EL but he looked solid enough.

Yeah every time I check on Athletico Madrid, he is on scoresheet and he isn't even a striker. He developed very well this season and has been reaching his potential and making impact. I have yet to see regular games for him, but saw glimpses of him.

Say if we sell Berbatov and Owen (likely) and decide to loan Macheda to a promoted team. That leaves us with Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez as strikers. Do not say Will Keane or Josh King. Neither of them are ready.

Salomon Kalou anyone? Free, versatile, fast, experience, whenever he has played he's not done badly and good age (26). Maybe only downside is that he's not been consistent but that is because he's not been given consistent opportunities at Chelsea. Other thing I can think of is AFCON.

Who else would be better on a free transfer?

Honestly Nimma. Not any time soon will we be able to afford the likes of Falcao, Hulk, Neymar and so on.

Kalou is a good Premier League striker in my opinion. Seriously underrated. If again we're tight this summer we could go for him on a free and instead spend money on a CM or full back.

Or, we stock even more on the wing and play young through the middle on a few more occassions.

Am I the only one who thinks that Owen is going to get a 1-year extension? Somehow it seems very logical, with Berba leaving and others not ready yet.

I think so too, also throw Ashley Young in the forward pool.

Susaeta anyone? Links this morning. Didn't realize he has only a year on his contract.

Good value as Rossi would say.

May allow us to add young to the forward pool more often with berba leaving, and his style would fit very nicely with us I think.
