It's a nominal pain - but you can also manually set the games to tape X mins early and end Y mins late at least on DirecTV

Isn't the problem with AVB that he was just too inexperienced? He only has 4 and a half years of coaching experience, I think. Wasn't he a scout before that? Most managers are coaches of teams beforehand, either youth teams or B teams initially and if proving themselves adept they move onto managing smaller clubs. Didn't AVB become a manager at Porto after only 1 season of coaching? And his entire reputation in England really based on the fact that he won the Europa League, but even this was achieved with a >100 million euro strike-force of Hulk and Falcao and the final of that was against another Portuguese team.

Doesn't AVB lack the years of experience of making timely tactical decisions in-game that comes with being a coach, even of youth football? His rise to being appointed at Chelsea was so rapid, that he did not really experience any bad patches in his management career until he was in Chelsea. And then everything he did there was under intense media scrutiny, not to mention Chelsea manager's having bad patches is not tolerated by Roman at all.

His appointment as Chelsea manager probably came before AVB was ready. His inexperience of man-management of a dressing room and tactical changes in-game cost him there. And yet despite that failure he was appointed as Spurs manager. His downfall at Spurs was his inability to get his team to gel this season. But where has he ever succeeded in building a successful side? This season was the only time AVB has had a second season at a club in his managerial career!

AVB has already been sacked by Chelsea and Spurs because of his limitations. Normally coaches are able to iron out these weaknesses as they gain experience in smaller clubs or reserve team football. AVB may do so as well but he was just promoted too high too soon. Rodgers is a young coach too, but he has 10 years of experience starting with coaching youth football at Chelsea.

Sure his lack of experience is the issue, but its the lack of experience managing the off field part of the job that did him in more than anything else.

Tottensham up 1-0 on West Ham who apparently have been abject (something like 25% possession) with 20 mins to go.

Stoke and United at 0-0 with 30 to go - this game was delayed 15 mins by a hailstorm....bring a completely new meaning to "Cold, Windy, Rainy night in Stoke"

boooo - just as I finished posting - King Diver (on United take your pick) - scores a screamer. Manure up 1 goal.

well then.....must be one shitty week to be a Spurs supporter....dominating the league cup game - only to lose in the last 5 mins to 2 late West Ham goals.

I was to some degree hoping they would stay in this competition - as they'd have to play 2 additional games - but they still have the FA cup and Europa to distract them.

That's just so odd. I've never had a problem with them - i.e. no games have yet to not start on time or be shown in full.

Doesn't look like they need a lot of help from us. It is always nice to pile it on though...:)

I'm hoping for a nice, boring 0-0 draw or a goalfest 3-3 draw.

Not sure it was fun for Maureen or Madrid fans, but fun for everyone else

I will never forget that clasico. Mou thought he could go toe-to-toe with Pep's Barça and payed for it dearly. Beautiful. He played like 10 different teams in their next encounters to avoid another pounding like the one they took that night.

Yeah - you are right...Mourinho's Chel$ski has not been fun to watch for a long time...Phase I or Phase II...

I actually would not mind seeing Arsenal take it to them...

Well, yes, that was fun. I had incorrectly conflated that game in my mind with the one on which Mourinhp gouged Tito Vilanova's eye, an act that (along with the flagrant foul on Fabregas immediately preceding) took all the fun out of that Barcelona victory.

And he was quoted this week as saying he was going to pull back the attack bec they've been shipping too many goals. It's going to get uglier. :)

Toure scores a nice free kick for City after a Silva dive right outside the 18.

Silva dives for a free kick and Toure scores it when a bunch of this and that convinces the Fulham wall not to jump
