    Fantasy/Politics...It's not high fantasy, though.

the new Pirates movie is pretty awesome. best one since the first movie. Depp (Captain Jack) and Rush (Barbosa) steal the show like always. Cruz looked hot! and Turkish from Snatch is in it as well :D good action and funny moments - 4/5

by the way, Bane looks badass!!!!

Fuck this movie (the story not the movie itself). Lame ass ending with people lacking conviction. Im angered. Dumbass novel. Loved the dude from the office, he was the shit.

Actually I meant it.. Really good series

    Agreed

It is soft fantasy, no elfs, orcs, and shit..

There is a bit of magic, some elusive monsters, and in this story, dragons used to exist, but only the bones\skulls are left.

P.S. The books (which I am reading), are facking phenomenal

    Peace out..

I'm very much captivated by the show. It's gearing up to be one of the all-time greats. Can't wait to see what becomes of little Arya the badass.

    BTW, check this out:

    Arrested Westeros

    Haha...

    P.S.

I just may buy the books!

Auto Focus (2002) - Paul Schrader

Its about the rise and fall of Hogan's Heroe star Bob Crane. Its a small film about an interesting subject. I mean Crane could be considered the king of all pervs. There is no doubt in my mind that he could have been what Hugh Hefner is today. A perv with an incredible hobby who although immoral didn't deserve to go out the way he did.

The whole series is interesting. Even if they're way off historically, they show much of what contributed to forming Caribbean and (parts of) Central American culture.

Watched The Dilemma 2.5/5 not a bad movie, but wasnt nearly as funny as i thought it could have been

Also my wife had never seen Alien, so I bought it and we watched it last night, she kept trying to scare me by screaming and jumping during the moments of tension, but since I knew when all the parts that make you jump
I always had the last laugh

on a side note, its crazy how different the pacing is in old movies, Alien builds so much tension and creepiness slowly and so well
but these new "horror/sci-fi" movies just have a scary moment per minute

    no tension, no real mind-effs

Pygmalion (1938) - Anthony Asquith; Leslie Howard

So I see a cover of this and see "Criterion Collection" so I say to myself this must be good then so I get it without ever reading about what the story is about. To my surprise I end up watching the British 1938 equivalent of the Devil Wears Prada. And to my horror I didn't think it was half bad, quite decent I'd say. (Goes and checks if his nuts are still in place)

The Intruder (1962) - Roger Corman

William Shatner before Captain Kirk, playing a psycho racist. I can see how it was ahead of its time and acclaimed but nowadays it looks like a film made by the master of B movies.

TV thread is that way ===>
    <====book thread is that way

I'm very pleased with how the show is turning out. The books are quality too, though the series isn't over yet. I have just the right distance from the books that I remember major plot lines, but the week to week episodes are still new to me.
