Per continuing to be solid, as he was for much of last season.

I don't see him as clumsy or anything. Just slow.

Vermaelen has become pretty poor, but is hurt too. We'll see if he can regain form.

The strange thing is that whoever is regarded as the most comical defender in the Premiership is someone who will earn millions playing football and be treated like a god in their local community. So who is the one really laughing? ;)

Paul McShane deserves a special mention. Should never have signed professional forms ever!

Roque Junior was awful. Along with Senderos, Bramble and Pascal Cygan!

So now you want to change it from being one of the worst defenders to one of the slowest? Eat your crow. You had no idea what you were talking about before the season and your opinion looks even worse now. Per is one of the best defenders in the EPL.

Meh. He was terribly slow, even though I can understand why a deluded fan like yourself disagrees.

Quit being so ignorant and watch him more often.

WTF? You either didn't comprehend a thing I said or you are intentionally ignoring it. You originally said that Mertesacker is a terrible defender and even said the worst defender in the EPL. I figured you would change your stance from the preseason but instead your ego has gotten in the way and you cannot admit you were wrong. This thread is about worst defender not slowest. Stop trying to change the subject.

I've watched everyone of his games in an Arsenal kit and he's one of the best defenders in the league. If you are still claiming he's one of the worst, you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Just a bit trolling mate, calm your tits. ;)

I didn't find him good last season, where he was kinda slow in quite a few games.

Though he has improved this season.

You can be slow and good. He was quite poor last season and he's quite good so far this season, but he's not Tony Adams and certainly not Titus Bramble, not by a long shot.

David Luiz for me, although under Mourinho he hasnt been able to keep his place in the team. I think he is talented, thats why Carlos Alberto Parreira chose him ahead of Dante in the Confederations cup. But whenever I watch him in the premeir league, he seems to put Chealsea in more danger as a defender. I think he should be developed as a midfielder while he is still young enough to be moulded into one.

David Luiz if we're talking about last year. Just watch his games with Brazil and you'll see.

Umm, he made the German WC team. They won the whole thing. Go back to the drawing board.

Do any of you know any players outside the top four?!

Saying a World Cup winner is the worst defender in the EPL is so ridiculous it's laughable.

I'd also go Luiz but he's gone. Just always looked like he was going to do something insane.
