Seriously. We get a 2-2 draw vs. Monterrey and it's "Mystifying" while somehow San Jose's effort, with all the tactical sophistication of a lead pipe, is inspiring? ******** Jonah.
that's the thing people forget. We went to Mexico and played well. We got ********ed by a ref who thought a middle of the field foul was suddenly a yellow on KB. We came home, in a cup final game, and just couldn't find the net. I've never heard of this before for RSL. not once
From Soccer America: Seldom does the MLS team play the second leg at home, which is perceived to be an advantage. Seattle beat Tigres at home in the second leg, 3-1, after losing, 1-0, in Mexico. Real Salt Lake stumbled in the 2010-11 finals; it tied Monterrey, 2-2, in Mexico, then came to Rio Tinto and lost, 1-0. http://www.socceramerica.com/article/57011/well-now-what-for-mls-in-the-concacaf-champions-l.html
You have to love the San Hosers whining about having their practice taped down in Toluca. When you think about it, the allegation is quite funny. What is anyone really going to learn about SJ's game - Bunker and counter - shocking! Lob ball after ball into the box at the end of the game Wondo, Gordon and Lennie poaching. Realistically, taping practice would've done more to screw Toluca up, as I'm sure Lennie flops far less in practice than in a real game. So the net of the FIFA allegation is a tactical response to try a last gasp way to win - and a new one at that for the Goobies.
Maybe I am blind but the PK against SJ was comical in the SKC match yesterday. To me, it looked like ex-Goobie and current SKCnucklehead Ike Opare hit the ball with his hand first and then it hit LenDork's. No?
Watching the Seattle-Montreal match with Seattle broadcast crew… they said 'the ball does odd things indoors, don't be surprised by a ball over someone's head', they said with no sense of irony.
Saw that in the Spurs vs Southampton match earlier today. First handball was called ball to hand. Spurs player raised his hand to call for that as a foul when the ball came off and hit him in his raised hand. The second hand ball was called a foul.
I had that on in the background, and I had to turn it off before halftime. The announcers were going on and on about how every team they play against is targeting the Sounders skill players with umpteen billion fouls per game and only 15% of those fouls are even called because all the refs hate the Sounders beautiful brand of football. Ugh, it's as if they don't have a player, Ozzie Alonso, who they put out there to do the exact same thing tactically to every other team they play.
Here's a fun one from Beantown: http://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/article/2014/03/25/bob-kraft-worst-owner-new-england-revolution/
And then Grant Wahl tweeted this today, too If we're splitting hairs, D.C. United's ownership has sunk below New England's as the worst in MLS post-Vergara. But it's a close call.— Subscribe to GrantWahl.com (@GrantWahl) March 25, 2014 As far as I can tell, Dell Loy's going to have to really step up his game if he wants to play with the big boys (of awful MLS ownership).
It could take some work to bottom out as worst owner. Like maybe beating Rimando's wife and kids on the sidelines if the other team scores or something. It's doable, but I dunno. I watched DelLoy in his suite as the opening ceremonies commenced. He was beaming - looked really pleased at the full stadium, the effects of the colored posters (despite the glare), the cool Nov 7 we kicked your ass in the playoffs TIFO.
Skipped tanking the team financially and went straight for the assault & battery joke. I like the cut of your jib.
If you think that's cool, then you should read my feed waste, rats, stray animals and Sarah McLachlan to gators in a pen in NYC to make hot dogs concept paper.
Actually, given the recent coaching decisions of our neighbors to the east, I wouldn't think it was the shitty side of the Rockies, but the perpetually stoned side of the Rockies. I guess their FO is being run by Cheech and Chong.
Small sample size, but right now the rookie coach on the East side of the Rockies has a better PPG than the rookie coach on the West side...
Good point. Extrapolating out a few other trends, I guess we should also expect that the cRapids will have 1.5 PKs called in their favor per game, and that RSL will have 0.667 goals either incorrectly disallowed on their behalf or incorrectly allowed for the opposition per game? Oh, and RSL should expect to play 2/3rds of their games on the road, while the cRapids will only play 50% on the road, I guess? Sure, it's a small sample size, but it seems reasonable to extrapolate from what we've seen so far, no?
Isnt it time we made a trade with Colorado again? we'll give you the rights to Mehdi Ballouchy in exchange for Deshorn Brown and Dillon Powers. If history repeats itself I think its a done deal.
