I'm thinking that, so far, Valeri and Bieler will be the best new additions this year. I would have loved to have Valeri in particular.
Pretty remarkable stuff from Montreal so far this season. It's fitting that they have nesta and di vaio with how they play. Very typical Italian strategy. An incredibly composed defense with offensive flair that punishes any chance they get it seems. I'd label them as possibly the best team so far this season. Loads of potential
Montreal does look like a more complete team. Two monstrous road wins, and they look composed doing it.
How about those Canadian doormats schooling everyone? The year is definitely off to a different start than last year.
Didn't Vancouver start off way fast last year? Toronto looks improved (hard not to be) but I wouldn't say they are going to be great. Their goals we're much more Sporting mistakes than TFC created. Also, they have Danny Califf on their team, so they can't be good. Montreal, on the other hand, looks different. I think they have the tools to be very good. However, having a player like Nesta is just asking for injury issues. If they can stay relatively healthy, I'd label them a contender in the east.
Yeah, but then they imploded their team midseason and barely missed the playoffs by freaking Dallas catching up to them. They were not as bad as TFC/Chivas/Crapids to end the season, but they were the next tier from the bottom.
It'd be interesting to see if they, sometime soon, reach the point where they get good enough where they'd merit their own league...
Vancouver's playing looks good too. Watching this game after RSL's was probably a bad idea. TFC has the potential to be decent this year. I don't know why everyone was raving about Chicago during pre-season. Montreal is the biggest surprise so far, It'll be interesting to see if they can remain consistent. Portland has a lot of good players, but it looks like they don't have much chemistry at the moment. (The pre game lineup showed how many new players were in the 11, so this shouldn't be surprising.) Hoping Colorado and SJ lose today.
ReAL New York....errrr, Red Bull Salt Lake...err, the new York red bulls taking on the quakes on ESPN dos, should be a good game. All three former RSL players starting for the pink cows.
Wow, Roy Miller is definitely the goat of the week. It also looks like SJ is back to their "Goonies never say die" ways again.
Wondo scores the winner. That made me 2 for 3 in the 3 Goal Monte. If Sabo would've scored I would've gone 3 for 3. Thanks Sabo!
Maybe Miller just decided that since Johnny Steele was in the game, that he'd just have to top Steele for worst play of the game - in spades...
I figured Sabo used up his luck last week and unfortunately was right. Only Wondo scored of my three - a fall off from last week when Sabo and Nagbe got me 2 for 3 and three goals. Cooper and team choked in their pathetically attended match vs. Chivas. I think quite a few high school matches had more fans than that game did...
I thought for sure that Cooper would score against Chivas. He and Higuain were on my list, but I went with Bieler at the last second.
which reminds me - how bad of a shape is FCD in if they lose to Chivas in that fashion? I understand parity, but losing that bad to the joke of the league... I'd be worried
