http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/69/t...tiations-with-montreal-impact-have-stalled-as It says that the negotiations with Ballack have stalled a bit. He probably wants too much money. NDS also says that they have talked to Seedorf but it's too early to tell if there is some chance that it will end up working. He said that signing a second DP is not a priority. I like the fact that the impact is interested in those type of players but is also not willing to overpay to bring them here. We don't want Marquez 2.0
DPs is not the answer anyway .. they can even be big trouble. Their drive to sign creaky DPs is making me nervous. TFC has 3 of the 10 highest paid players and they're 1-9. The 3 teams with highest paid players are NY, LA, and TFC I believe. NYs doing fine, but LA and TFC are in last place. Actually I have to look into it more, there's more DPs than I realize.. but SJ has none and they're doing fine. And then there's two levels of DPs .. very high profile, and then simply very good players. RSL has two, but who can name them? And how old are they. Morales and Sabario.. ages, 32 and 30.. Here's a review of the DPs in the league.. http://pressbox.mlssoccer.com/content/current-designated-players
exactly.. i think the impact are smarter than that though. like you said, mtl seems like they wont overpay a dp jut to get a dp. the team is already getting a lot of attention, so they are just looking for a player who can help the team, not bring in fans. forget about toronto. they are a joke of an organization (and im not just saying that because its toronto lol). i actually can't believe and cant stand that they are representing the canadian team at the concaf champs
I also really like they they are in discussion with some of the bigger available players in the world. We need a star mid and the organisation has clearly shown that they are willing to spend to get one. But only if its a smart move. Can anyone provide a bit of a scouting report on Seedorf?
Nds says that they have made an offer to seedorf and by chance Ferrari is in Milan maybe tryin to sell him to coming to Mtl who knows he would be epic, always loved his work ethic.
In other, perhaps less glamorous news, the team signed Quebec local Karl Ouimette to the Academy team. http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/2012/06/05/karl_ouimette_first_academy_signing_montreal_impact/ On the SoccerPlus podcast(Excellent Impact podcast btw) Phillipe put forward the speculation that with 4 Canadians now on the roster, they could get rid of Sutton, who has performed terribly thus far both in Colorado, as well as the reserve game vs the Revs today.
That would be sick seedorf is one of my all time favorite footballers but the Impact twitter says that only contractual terms have been discussed and no offer has been made.
In the reserve game against NE, some talk of Rivas hurting his knee in the game, and subbed out.. don't know the details as yet.
yup, and he apparently could not leave under his own power, some sort of golf cart type vehicle was used to get him back to the locker room. Though I have heard no follow-up news about the extent of the damage.
It's dosent look good for Rivas I beleive it was a knee on knee and when he was pulled to the side they looked really concerned.
http://blogues.lapresse.ca/soccer/2012/06/07/plus-de-peur-que-de-mal-pour-rivas/ Great news for Rivas. The injury is not as serious as it seemed. He might even be ready for the next regular season game.
Impact de Montréal @impactmontreal Swiss defender Dennis Iapichino, 21, on trial with #IMFC. Played more than 50 games in Swiss 2nd div. with FC Lugano. Former FC Basel U21
Ricketts injured in WCQ game.. stretchered off with lower body injury. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/06/11/impacts-ricketts-injured-wcup-qualifier-jamaica With Greg and Evan, I think they’ve competed hard this week for that spot and they’ve both been sharp,” Marsch said. “So I'll have a tough decision to make if we decide to go without Donovan.” Ha ha ha Come on Marsch. A cynical signing and if I didn't want Impact to win, I would say you deserve to be taught a lesson.
No matter how many DPs you sign, nothing will make up for losing Ricketts. Pray that he heals quickly or season is over.
The Reggae Boyz will be without goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts, who suffered a leg injury that is not considered to be serious, according to comments made by Montreal Impact coach Jesse Marsch. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_...osta-rica-guyana-jamaica-antigua-barbuda.html
