It was great. The Zebra was awesome. But I loved the close the episode - did not expect the follow up to the baptism.
I'm going to admit to knowing that that episode was the second new show this week to have a Christening gown... the hopefully soon to be canceled New Normal also had one featured in this week's storyline
I noticed that too. Through the power of DVR, I coincidentally watched these two programs one after the other and I had an extra chuckle when I saw the gown on Modern Family.
If anybody watches The Neighbors, they had some fun with John Hughes/80s teen movies. I thought the 16 Candles bit was great.
That's a bad show. I admit it has gotten better, but it's still a horrible show. Of course I'm all in...
Luke has been on fire. Manny and him are just wonderful... Really like Gloria's sister...She had the right balance between being different and psycho..
Ty Burrell is a master of using his face to comedic effect. See also the little "Philboard" smile gifs on the previous page. You can see the realization, and then the joy of having come up with it all in the blink of an eye. Masterful craftsmanship.
Jay: Great, just what I need, another son in a dress! Amazing isn't it. Four seasons now and still as edgy as the first. ....and I still have a thing for Clair/Julie.
Julie Bowen was in some horrible Tyler Perry-like movie about a snooty black girl marrying an inner city black guy who "made it." She played the marriage coordinator. I'm not sure why I wasted the 15 minutes on it that I did. Found it. Called "Jumping the Broom" from 2011.
I don't think so. This season has been pretty ordinary to be honest. A couple of good laughs an episode but nothing consistently funny like the last three seasons. A few of the characters are starting to grate as well. Lilly continues to ruin every scene she's in. Manny has gone from being charmingly grown-up to a whiny little fop. Mitch and Cam just lurch from stereotype to stereotype, which is getting old. Still lots of good stuff. Luke just keeps getting better. But nowhere near on a par with what it used to be.
I somewhat agree with Caesar's comments. Some of the characters haven't been as good as in previous seasons. But Phil and Luke are having another good season, and I actually think this is one of the best Claire seasons. But they have indeed gone overboard on the cliches for Cam and Mitchell and Manny has yet to have a truly great Manny episode.
In terms of speaking, Cam and Mitchell are getting quite cliche. But there have been quite a few non-speaking bits/sight gags, specially with Cam, that are excellent. Of the top of my head, I'm thinking of the cat up the tree a few episodes.
