I can't decide if I'm glad I get to watch my team play so soon after the big loss in the CCL, or wishing I had more time to get over it. I imagine the players feel something of the same way. Regardless, off we go with week 7 of MLS 2011. Thank goodness LA doesn't play until Sunday so the Beckhams could attend the big wedding across the pond. All games EDT, and broadcast on DirectKick/Match Day Live unless otherwise noted. Friday 29 April DC at Houston, 8:30, Fox Soccer Channel Saturday 30 April San Jose at Philadelphia, 4:00 Vancouver at Columbus, 7:30 Kansas City at New York, 7:30 Chicago at Colorado, 9:00 Toronto at Seattle, 10:00 Salt Lake at Portland, 10:30 New England at Chivas USA, 10:30 Sunday 1 May Los Angeles at Dallas, 7:00, Galavision As always, keep it friendly here in the neutral PBP thread.
After all the unpleasantness of the past week, for a variety of incidents and reasons, I'm looking forward to this week and having some new things to discuss.
You look at a guy like Diego Chaves--if he were on the Galaxy or RSL or FCD, he'd easily be Golden Boot material. The guy simply knows how to finish. I'm so sick of this expectation that forwards be everything to everyone, from tracking back to playmaking. It was the same way with Wondo, there was always a "but...", and there shouldn't be.
100% agreed. Lets get it on. Weather looks to be amazing for the Red Bulls game tomorrow. I'm looking forward to an afternoon of kicking a ball and drinking, and hopefully another big win.
Couple good games to watch this week. Philly/San Jose should be a pretty good tilt. We get to see how Seattle will look without Zakuani, and if they revert back to their early season form without him. RSL/Portland should be dynamite, too. RSL coming off the tough loss going to Jeld-Wen. Could be a high scoring affair. Looking forward to tonight. That could be a fun one, as well, unless the curse of FSC gives us another dreadful game of either a blowout or visual Ambien.
Portland-RSL looks like the game of the week to me. Portland has been highly entertaining at home, and its going to be very interesting to see how RSL responds. I'm sure Beckerman will be in beast mode.
Weather isn't looking very good for the LAG @ FCD game. "Rain with a few rumbles of thunder. Highs in the upper 60s and lows in the upper 40s" http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/75034?begHour=13&begDay=120#Sun, May 1
Fiosfan posted an article talking about DC scoring in bunches this year. I hope the trend continues. So far we have a bulimic pattern of binging on some goals, and then well, purging them? Hmmm...in my brain the eating disorder analogy makes sense. Doesn't look so good when written. Go DC!
Another cold match day is in the forecast for Colorado. Looks like a high of 45° with a chance of snow in the evening.
Yup. Not looking good at all weather-wise. In better news, there are reportedly only standing-room seats available. It'll be interesting to see how Schellas approaches the team without Ferreira available. Will they just plug somebody like Avila into the "Ferreira-role", or completely change the formation/tactics out there?
Trying to find weather that suits a MLS fan is like trying to find another planet that supports life. Talk about a Goldilocks zone. Let's hope DC continue to disappoint knave (I have backed Houston) and we see lots of goals, no bad injuries, no red cards and plenty of good soccer.
Looking forward to seeing houston for the first time this season for 90 minutes. And I've pleased with the improvements DC United have made so far, so looking forward to a quality match in general
I can't wait until the CCL starts back up so I can root against FCD and the Rapids, due to you and Jasonma rooting for the meteor.......

I really want to see Najar play tonight. I have a feeling he would be able to hit Charlie on one of his often missed runs.
Houston starting 11: Hall, Ashe, Hainault, Boswell, Freeman, Davis, Palmer, Cameron, Clark, Bruin, Weaver. Koke and Watson are both on the bench.
Man, I don't know what it is with my dislike for Kyle Martino, but I just want to slap that smarmy look off his face. Oh. That's right. He mispronounces everyone's name, and he's not a good color commentator.
