Both of you can go to hell.

Next year we'll win the whole thing.

Klinsmann is reported to be coming in as coach next week after the Rapids match.

Doubt it. He turns down the US for the Galaxy. Stupidity.

He turned the US over control issues. He wanted to oversee the whole program and USSF didn't want a coach with that power. Incidentally Cappleo is rumored to be taking over the role of Technical Director for US Soccer.

Well, I'm no Ken Lay, but I'll do my best! :)

Capello is one of the best coaches, if not the best coach, on the planet. That would be a coup for US Soccer.

Like halftime at the LAG/Chivas match. That headbutt was sweet.

Re: the MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER thread

So, mplsTOON, did you finally settle on a team? You may want to consider Philly. I know, I'm a DC fan, but I think you'd fit in with the SoBs and you didn't seem to be interested in DC anyway.

Now, there's some passion for you. A supporters group without a team. There's a recent article in the Guardian about them: http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/sport/2008/02/20/phillys_footballphiles_looking.html

Oh, and they have a team for sure, it'll be officially announced sometime soon.

Re: the MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER thread

no honestly I didn't...I was vaguely sauntering towards Toronto, and actively getting some kids in my neighborhood to root against the Galaxy but unfortunatly the MLS doesn't have the appeal of the European or English game to me...Yet.

I do support the local Div 1 or whatever Minnesota Thunder, FWIW...

Good point as Philly is my hometown. But since I am no longer local, I will wish the "Sons of Ben Franklin" and their skull with crossed sickle and paddle (Sob's? wtf?!?) the best. The Best being, like all Philly teams ever will be, mediocre underachievers with a rabid fanbase...

SoB's will become the NUFC of the MLS. Bet on that.

I know, that's why I was recommending them to you. My ship has already sailed as I chose DC long ago.

    Giggle all you like.

LA is title town once again. Nothing like winning the MLS Cup in your own stadium. :D

I'm drinking whatever Theo Walcott is having. DC United is the Arsenal of MLS.

    Pretty much. Except less French.

I was going to say their fans don't suck as much as Arsenal's either, but that's not wholly true. Basically the only cool DC United fans I've met on BigSoccer are Dirt and JayRockers! (and myself, if I could meet me). The rest are either asshats or soccer nerds (but I guess that goes for all MLS fans...'d love to meet some real down-to-earth MLS fans).

I could become a Crew fan if I attend some Crew games once I move to Ohio. Who knows.

You gotta make the playoffs to win, son.

Who says Gullit's sexy football will work any better in the kneecap league than it did the Prem? :p

Re: the MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER thread

I was thinking of picking an MLS team to support... then slapped myself. I do watch the Galaxy games on the highlights though.... as its the only team who's highlights are shown (on ESPN Classic about 4 days after the match). Yes I'll admit that I'm only interested in them because of Beckham. Wouldn't say I "support" them though. If Seattle had a team I'd go with them for music-related reasons (see how shallow my interest is?)

I'm more interested in if MLS is gonna work. But all that talk about salary caps and DP's (I thought that was a term in porn) makes me lose the will to live.

I kinda find it hard to believe there are Americans who chose to support Newcastle... what the f**k were you thinking? :D Well done all the same.
