Columbus 2 Stoke City 1 Two goals from hometown academy players (Horton and Speas with the match winner). Just a friendly, sure, but for those young players, memories of scoring vs. a Premier League side.

Stokes' simple, ultradirect, style looks like it would fit right in ol' MLS. At times I thought I was watching last year's version of the Revs.

A few thoughts on watching Sporting KC against some French team.

    1. For a guy who was an a-mid in college, Konrad Warzycha looks pretty good at center back. Nice move by Vermes.

    2. A fat Bobby Convey is much less entertaining than a fat Clint Mathis.

    3. Is it racist to call Peterson Joseph a black hole? Cause I wouldn't know how else to describe him.

Gals just went down 0-1 around the 17th minute. Who is doing production of the game (TWC?)? This isn't a normal score bug used on espn.

    Colorado: 2 - Swansea: 1

Two good goals for the Rapids in the first 15 minutes including an absolute bomb from Kamani Hill for the second (check out the video when it goes up in the morning). Akpan had the first goal off a Zapata assist. Swansea scored with a nice looking free kick gainst the Rapids 3rd string keeper with about 15 minutes left. Swansea was obviously feeling the effects of their flight from London yesterday and the altitude, they didn't really try until they got their goal and thought they could get a draw. Attendance was very low, less than last year's CCL games IMO.

Was there a gentlemen's agreement not to call PKs in the LAG-TOT match?

Yeah wow... if that no-call on Bale's run happened in a real MLS Galaxy game, the internet would blow a few sparkplugs.

    The good DeGuzman was credited.

At times, they pressed very effectively. And someone must have told them about the Rapids as a couple times I noticed their forward playing the goal keeper looking to poach a back pass.

Agree on the attendance. While it's nice to have the stadium to one's self, I'm guessing we won't see a friendly again for a while.

Agreed. Swansea starting feeling that flight and altitude right around minute 30. From there it was downhill. You could clearly see they were in preseason mode, though. I like the way the Rapids moved the ball. It was quick and limited touches. Swansea invited the Rapid's possession but it was nice to see the Rapids string together a few nice sequences. Akpan had an easy downward header but it was made easy by that brilliant cross. I had a perfect angle on Hill's bomb. As soon as it left his foot I knew it was in. Wicked bend and drip. You can't hit the ball any better. I love Hill's game and really hope he gets more minutes. He's often a spark.

I was disappointed with the attendance, I really thought it would be a decent turnout. Oh well, despite the size it was fairly boisterous. It was strange to see the supporters, I assume the Pid Army, behind the opposite goal. However, they never seemed to let up on the cheers and chants. Kudos to them.

Apparently 8,976 tonight in Columbus for the Stoke City game. Not a bad crowd, and the fans went home happy.
