There are 8 teams of supporters out there who will have to decided what they will do on the 20th. Cheer for LA, the Revs, or just sit quietly. Also, will you be watching it on TV or will you be going to the Big Razor?
Cheering myself hoarse I will be sitting in the same seat for the 18th time this year (I missed the Colorado game in August) cheering for Revs - "the hottest team in MLS". I have seen that quote several times in the past month or so and I love the way that sounds.
Well, since you asked, I will probably not be backing either horse in this race. I think NE has had a great run, but they beat the Fire, so I can't really get too thrilled about 'em. I honestly would have rather seen Columbus move on, only because they're "fellow midwesterners" and their fans actually attend matches in big numbers, which I did not see at NE during the telecast. LA? I can't get wound up about ANY team from LA!
No real favorite but since I grew up a Celtic fan and hating everything about LA, I will pull for the Revs.
I was in Crew Stadium for last year's Cup, and I can tell you for sure that the largest group was cheering against the Galaxy, the second largest group was cheering for the Galaxy, the third largest group didn't care, the fourth largest group (including me) was cheering for the Earthquakes, and I don't think I saw anyone cheering against the Earthquakes. Since this year's match is in the home of the opposing team, I don't expect fan reaction to be so dominated by for or against Los Angeles, but I do find it interesting that, to most fans last year, San Jose was merely the Galaxy's generic/nonspecific opponents.
I can't cheer for LA, especially after last year. They deserved to lose, and I believe they deserve to lose this year. Besides, I usually always cheer for the home team if I am disinterested in the outcome. A game-winner for the home team sends soccer newbies home happy, which adds to the excitement of the game. I'd rather convert some Bostonites into soccer fans.
I'm from LA and will be there, but I can honestly say I will not be cheering.........Im going to be pissing all the beer I will had on the Revs as they come out from the locker room. Section 117 douche bags, watch out for the yellow water. BIZNITCHES!!!
and gunner, you won't make it into the stadium with ziploc bags. our security crew is like the Gestapo. besides, if you even try it, all the revs/anti-LA fans will pummel you in your seat. if it gets caught on tape, even better. i would bet that the viewing audience would start clapping.
Pull your pants down and bend over BIZNITCH, I don't know about the rest, but I'll gladly show you where my foot is going to be.
I don't need no stinking ziploc bags, Im hosing all you effers down. As far as you douche bags "pummeling me in my seat" I doubt you'll be doing anything other than crying cuz your boy twatman is going to crap his pants when I lay the smack down on that ************!!
Being a San Diegan, it is difficult to root for any LA team, but I have always liked the Galaxy and will root for them. They are about as close as we get to pro soccer in socal. I want to see LA take the title. It will be a good capper on Cobi's career. After Preki, Cobi is my second favorite player in MLS.
Riot Squads are never beautiful. I'm pulling for NE so I want the LA Galaxy to become the Buffalo Bills of the MLS.
I was there too, and I know that the largest group there were mostly Fire Fans who made the trip to C-bus to cheer against the Galaxy, since they eliminated the Fire earlier in the 2001 playoffs. Although I'll be first and foremost a devoted Crew fan, I was in the group cheering for the Galaxy, and that will not change this year either. The Galaxy deserve an MLS Cup, and I hope they finally win it on Sunday. As for the Open Cup...it's fair game. Let the best team win.
Takes allot of balls to say that, you get my respect...if I ever meet you a pint of your choice will be on me.
