I think the league was smart enough to know not to try to expend PR capital during the holiday weekend when nobody would notice. I'd expect the hype machine will crank up tomorrow. Did you guys hear that it's Beckham's last game????!!!!???!! The 2-week gap is essential for the host venue to prepare since it wasn't predetermined, and I'm sure the traveling Houston fans appreciate the extra week to plan their trips.
= Be interesting to see how many extra temp seats we jam into the HDC. 2 weeks good for us to get some players healthy Rain is predicted (what else for an MLS CUp?) 30-60% depending on which weather service. If you had told be back-to-back MLS Cups in LA would have rain .....crazy
Mike Magee was responsible for extending the MLS Cup from last year to this year. Mike Magee. True story.
Looking forward to this year's rematch much more than last year's contest when, without Davis, who they relied on almost exclusively last year, I didn't think Houston had a chance....and they basically didn't. This year's game - with a healthy Davis, the addition of Garcia and the in form Bruin - is a much more interesting matchup - at least on paper - and we should see some good attacking movements at both ends of the field. I'm really starting to get excited about this one.
So I missed it, why is this game being played on a Saturday afternoon? Is this the first ever non-Sunday MLS Cup?
Wild guess: to avoid both the NFL on Sunday and the college football conference championships on Saturday evening.
Avoiding NFL Sundays and having big college football games on Saturday never seemed to bother them for the last 16 years... whats new?
What's new is that this is the first time that MLS Cup is so late that it's not on a weekend with a full college football schedule. There is still college football this Saturday, but not as much as any other earlier week. MLS Cup has always been on ABC or ESPN, which are packed with college football on regular Saturdays but don't show the NFL on Sundays, so Sundays have been what's available. The lighter college football schedule this week made it possible for a Saturday MLS timeslot to be carved out on ESPN.

I hope they don't mic the Dynamo SG's because they aren't going to like some of the chants. (I'm purely assuming. I'm not affiliated wit any hd sg and will be sitting two sections over)
Mike Magee has the power to extend rainstorms on important match days, including MLS Cup Finals. He can customize the conditions to replicate the elements, pitch conditions to his liking. Hence, the current forecast.
Have they seen the 1906 Ultras? The infamous blow-up doll in Seattle? Not trying to rag on SJ, Seattle, or any other specific team, but how on God's Green Earth is this actually "offensive" overall, much less in the context of MLS supporters?
Hey, is there a game today? Is there any concern about that hamstring thing that hit Donovan in the 1st Seattle game?
I don't remember. Seems to me the Thanksgiving break saps the energy out of this game. Or maybe it's just that I don't find this match-up at all interesting. After a great season, I find myself really bored with the idea of this particular MLS Cup.
