Chicago is in a death spiral. Being in front of the Fire in any race just means your going in the correct direction.
This is true. I guess you don't want to hype an image and then suddenly change it. Ticket reps could go nuts on the surrounding areas not already dominated by the Gs. Well at least Section 8 has been right around full capacity. Last year it was a sad, barren supporters section. And it's sad to see that with any club, weekday matches included.
16529 in Montreal. the fact that we got such a mediocre number after offering half price tickets across the board is worrying. Perfect day too.
Attendance in Montreal typically spikes in late June. Considering this was the best day in what has been a dreadful spring in Montreal, 16529 isn't to bad. I know of several MLS clubs who would take that anytime. Saputo should be worried about his teams performance on the field. By all accounts, he's losing patience, and is guaranteeing changes. If Frank Klownpas doesn't get his shit together, and this team continues sucking donkey balls, expect more empty seats. https://twitter.com/JoeySaputo
Does Colorado have any plans to enclose their stadium? I have no idea but I feel like an enclosed stadium would be somewhat warmer and more comfortable.
Would also be very expensive and would likely lead to a greater risk of cancellation due to snow build up on the roof. As long as MLS plays the Spring-Fall schedule it's simply not worth it for these very rare snow games.
Reminder: MLS is a summer league, and as uncommon as snow in May is here, it's even more uncommon in June and July and August.
I understand that but for aesthetics sake I don't see why long term plans to have an enclosed facade and/or covered roof would be unquestionable. If they plan to stay at that location of course.
Because such plans would be a pointless waste of time and money? It's a business. It doesn't take a Nobel Prize Winning economist to understand that the potential return on investment of sufficiently enclosing the seating area would be so far negative as to be a waste. The potential revenue upside is extremely limited. You're talking tens of millions of dollars before you look at the other factors limiting attendance due to a freak snowstorm in May - the fact that most parking lots are not paved, the fact that the wind would make anything short of full enclosement pointless, full enclosement would lead to other problems, especially if you want to keep a grass surface. The fact that a fair number of customers just aren't going to leave the house in these conditions even if the roads are paved, the parking lots are paved, and the seats inside the stadium are sheltered. The key is increasing demand for the product. If demand for the product is increased, more fans will attend regardless of the conditions (see: Denver Broncos). There is 18 full seasons of data that indicates that demand for seats at Colorado Rapids games is not primarily driven by "fan comfort". At least not to the extent that significant changes to the stadium would be financially viable. The cost of sheltering the stands would break the bank with virtually no upside. None.
While I agree with the general point of your post, let me point out that most of the parking lots at DSGP are paved.
Thanks for the book but I still don't see an answer on whether the Rapids FO actually have any long term plans to alter their stadium.
Grow up. If you're not willing to read a reasoned response and actually use your brain instead of being coddled and spoon fed, then you're in the wrong forum.
