I'm not interested in getting that far into the weeds, thank you, just an observation that I have found that when the error in question involves a nine, I've often transposed two numbers. I don't think any more deeply than that. But if you feel better now having pointed that out, awesome.
I should note that by and large my playoff numbers were not MLS sourced. When I put together the playoff numbers a few years ago it was from Wikipedia sooooo take them for what they are worth. Although based on Kenn's numbers (and he has been doing this much longer than i have) Wiki seems to be pretty reliable at least for this data. I will check on 99 as that is a worrisome amount, everything else would be nice to get matched up but those numbers negligible and well within normal variance numbers. I quoted Kenn but the response was really for everyone
Wiki is fairly reliable most of the time. I usually check a few different sources, but, yeah, we're not usually differing by a ton.
Meanwhile, Steve Davis' "Ehhhhh, okay" story from less than halfway through the playoffs is funny in hindsight.
Not really.. If they had done better in the first game, then sales would have been better, but since they stunk up the joint, very few tickets sold after.
I think that's lost on people. We're so used to reading 36k+ from Seattle in the regular season that big number are almost ho-hum. Here's hoping the FO there doesn't feel the same way (no dig at their prior work, more of a "keep the eye on the prize" sentiment).
I'm not at all impressed by that Seattle number, as a percentage of capacity the Quakes did far better for their playoff game...
Well the Sounder showed they can get 65k for a regular season game. People assumed they could do it again for the biggest game in franchise history.
There were a couple of Seattle-ite friends that I don't think of as soccer fans that posted on facebook that they decided not to go to the game because of the weather.
I dont think the weather had much to do with the announced attendance. Judging by the lack of lines on game days, I would say most folks already had their tickets prior to the downpour. Usually we just have more no-shows in such weather. But let's just say that not every Sounders fan was born & raised in Washington. I think Yoshou has it correct.
Ouch man. Low blow. There is zero eveidence at this point that OKC would support a team. I mean before poaching the soops they hosted the Hornets for part(?) of a season. Really for this to work I think the Dynamo would have to play half a season or more in OKC to whet the soccer apetite there.
I expect to have the team centric data up no later than 12/8. I will unstick this thread on 12/1 thanks for following this season.
