Well, I made pork chops, and I'm going to watch some baseball. Y'all have a good night. See you on Saturday.
I knew there was a comb in this game. True, I had seen the first half and knew Henry was on and Houston was very, very flat, but I also saw Clark shank a good chance and Driver do whatever he did (way worse than a shank) and knew Olave was shaky so Dynamo scoring could happen. But there I was at a Planning Commission meeting to testify about the important but dry topic of traffic calming measures, when the chairman of the committee started saying "traffic combing" repeatedly. It was awesome. It was also the universe cluing me in to the fact that the rest of the game awaiting me on the DVR featured two more goals from NY than Houston would score. The only image I get that's relevant to "traffic comb" is this:
This game was meant to give Timbers fans a wee glimmer of hope for Sunday's game..... only to have Dom sort it out by then.
Houston's sucktitude outweighed your goal scoring curse though. They easily should have had at least 2 goals that half.
I'll get this in tonight since I won't be around to post it tomorrow. Saturday's match is the 10th competitive match the Rapids have ever played in Seattle. They're 0-1-8 all-time in my hometown, with last year's regular season trip being their only draw. They've been outscored 21-6 in the 9 games. Seattle is the only MLS team the Rapids have never beat on the road (though a couple of those 9 games were USOC matches before Seattle entered MLS).
Sacramento Republic FC opener sells out, sets league record Kickoff's at 7:30 Pacific. Streaming here: http://www.sacrepublicfc.com/matchday/ I'll be less than half an hour from the stadium at kickoff, and I won't even see the game on YouTube. Big family birthday dinner. I'll be lucky to sneak a peak at the score. You knuckleheads better enjoy this game for me.
They told our club that we can't compete. Inner-city kids with no money can't compete with bigger clubs from the city and suburbs who have more money and resources. And yet... ...we won our first ever tournament today. Club started in 2009, and we've got more trophies than the Union. Pretty not bad for a bunch of never-wills. I love these kids, and I'm proud to coach them. Suck it, haterz.
So having said that, I plead with my good friends in the weekly PBP thread to help our kids in any way that you can. If you go to this link, it's a story about the kids I coach (I'm the fat guy in yellow in the picture), and how you can help them achieve their dream of playing on a travel team. Normally, I would never solicit like this, but I'd do anything for those kids. https://sportsmatter.com/help-urban-youth-build-a-boys-travel-soccer-team-in-philadelphia If there's any way that you can help, it would be wonderful. If you can't, at least pass on the link on your social media. (None of my Facebook "friends" have bothered to share it. Thanks, "friends".) Thanks, and the Union still suck.
The Union may suck but the team must be greatful for having a fan like you. I just pledged, Hope you reach the campaign goal.
