I enjoy mocking Bofo as much as anyone else, but he has distributed the ball very well in his time on the field tonight.
I thought his service was generally good tonight. Had a few shaky defensive moments (the foul, the clearing header that was inexplicably pass-looking) but ultimately nothing that cost you guys.
He had some very good defensive moments as well. He's much better with an honest RM, who tracks back, in front of him.
Yeah I thought he had some good defensive moments too. He was good today overall..but inconsistent in judgement (this is expected, but is also something that will get him in a lot of trouble against good teams at the next level). People think I'm harsh on the guy but the reality is that I'm harsh because I have high expectations..much in the same way that people have high (and sometimes unfair) expectations of Donovan. Not saying Yedlin is Donovan, but he has loads of potential so I hold him to a higher standard than players I take less seriously as prospects.
A studs stump is a straight red. No idea what was up with our booth guys today it was so anti-seattle at times. Chivas USA is very very lucky to still have 10 guys on the field.
Seattle wasn't wanting to keep rosales as a DP and wanted to give him a pay cut. Rosales said no thus the trade
There have been a number of excellent combinations in MLS over the years. Donovan and Ching is the most underestimated and most underappreciated by USMNT coaches. Donovan and Keane is obviously a good one. Magee and that underwear model. Martins and Dempsey is obviously a bright spot, threatened only by Martins' propensity to change teams more often than some people change underwear. He deserves an offer of a raise to encourage him to stay. He is fit, he works hard, he passes well, he finishes well, he reads the game well, he combines well with his teammates. Other than that, he sucks.
For a player of his caliber and pedigree I think his finishing since coming to MLS has been pretty disappointing, personally. Agree with the rest of the assessment though.
Off the top of my head I'm honestly not sure, nor do I have the time to go through those statistics right now. I will say that simply counting goals scored isn't the way I would measure whether someone is a good finisher or not..rather, I would measure it by how many shots/chances were converted. I would score someone who has scored 5 goals in 15 shots as a better finisher than someone who has scored 10 goals in 60..for example. Even then, I would need time to look at Oba's stats but on eyeball test alone (since I watched him all last season), I came away disappointed by his general finishing ability and remember thinking multiple times that he should have scored when he didn't..again, for a player of his clear talent. Edit: Also, when talking about finishing, why would you include assists/90 min? That doesn't make sense. I know he's a good passer of the ball, I'm not challenging that claim. Going by your criteria.. In 2014, on G/90 he is at .17, which puts him somewhere around 75th in the league. Last year he was at .49, which was good for about 35th in the league. I'm not trying to bash the guy, just saying that based on his finishing ability since he came into the league, I wouldn't consider it that "good" considering he plays up top.
