Oh christ, I thought they forgot to list the ESPN2 game in the ratings. I just did not look far enough down the list SJ vs Philly did 82k on ESPN2 last Sunday at 11:00pm That may be an all time low on that channel for an MLS game.

The highest rated program on NBCSN only earned about 245k The 2nd highest rated program was about 167k With no Premier League, the traffic for NBCSN fell. So, earning 102K on a channel with so much void is not bad, and on a slow week for them. But, once again, the match-window is a little higher than the 102K average. Regardless, I had expected the ratings to be above the 130K+. But, based on my analysis, it has to do with the whole channel. NBCSN has too many holes, and it doesn't have much original programing. The highest rated program for that week pulled less than 250K, and even substantial drop for the #2 rated program. The match-window of this game probably pulled around 125K-130k.
This was a terrible slot for this game. Most of the Philly fans were sleeping. Plus, Not a really intriguing match. Regardless, that was pretty bad...

Then why did you quote my post about the ESPN2 game and start talking about NBC? I must be missing something.
Are you married? My wife does that sort of thing all the time and says I'm just supposed to follow her. My Mom does it to my Dad, too.
Good number for the SEA-RSL match. From Ourand on Twitter: "MLS on TV: NBCSN's Real Salt Lake v Seattle drew 177K viewers."
We are getting some fairly decent evidence that the Friday night games (at least in the late summer/early fall) are working.
Yup, 3 in a row now. Two of which were late starts. Anyone know what the leadin is for the Friday games? Will be interesting to see what LA vs Sea draws on NBCSN late night (10:30pm) this Saturday.

This continues to support my view that Saturday games lose tons of eyeballs because they are either at the stadium, or watch their team away on TV or are exhausted from EPL action. My theory is that at least in the short run so much EPL on TV is hurting MLS TV #'son Saturday because there is only so much soccer you can (or your wife will allow you to) watch over a day. They must turn Friday into a thing. Play the game either at 9 EST if it's in the East or Central or 10 EST if it's in Pacific or Mountain. That way every knows it's on at either of those times and it's the official start of the soccer weekend. No one is exhausted yet
The Friday night games have done really well. I'd like to see this become our game of the week day. A time when all MLS fans know that there will be a game. There wouldn't be any other MLS games clashing with it and it would be on a day where we would avoid the NFL.
I looked into this - there doesn't seem to be any evidence that Friday evening is any better than Saturday evening. (p-value of 0.42 to reject null hypothesis of no difference)
The Friday pacific time zone kickoffs have been really good for me. As a person with a young family, I am more likely to be at home (or not doing something else) on Friday. The 7:30/8pm starts are helpful because it's after dinner and right around when the baby is getting put to bed. When the Saturday afternoon/early evening games come on (the typical east coast/central kickoff times), we are either doing an activity away from the house or cooking dinner. I miss lots of those games, and I don't always feel like watching the recordings late into Saturday night either.
