It's an oldie, and the tape has some wear, but it's still the indoor game at its finest from Phoenix. Outside of the classic Steamers names, you will see a young Kia, Mike Uremovich and Bruce Savage for the Pride. A decent crowd who is into their team for this one...happy memorial day and as always... Enjoy! Tee
It is a nice crowd. Love the goal flame throwers that they had. Never understood the "Pride" rename though. Inferno was much better.
I played on that carpet! It ended up (and still resides as far as I know) at Salt Lake Indoor Soccer in Murray.
Apparently the new owner was ultra-religious and didn't like the connotations of the Inferno and thought "Pride" was much more positive and uplifting. http://www.funwhileitlasted.net/2011/10/29/50-phoenix-inferno-phoenix-pride/
Two Questions for all you MISL Historians: 1. Are the referees (much younger versions of) Toros Kbrytzian (sp) and Brian Hall? 2. I see butts in seats and ads on the dasherboards... exactly HOW did the Pride manage to lose $2.2M in one season?
I don't know that they used any lion imagery, did they? The Portland Pride did, but I don't know that Phoenix did. And everybody lost money in those days. $2.2M sounds like a lot, granted. But you can't judge a P&L by the appearances in one video.
I have a Phoenix Pride pennant. It had some lions. I believe they were real friendly looking, spinning balls on fingers or something like that.
