The thread title is misleading. The article is more about them looking for more corporate sponsors. There is one small sentence where they say they would sell part of the team to the right person.

Maybe I read it differently ... but that article seemed more like a sales pitch/prospectous ... talk up the improved revenue, how wonderful things are, community good deeds, etc ... then casually mention "oh and by the way, i'd be happy to sell to the right person". But then again maybe I'm being too cynical.

Here is what he said , It sounds to me like he wants to sell the team right now the wave is at its peak value in the sports world after winning back to back championships I know 2 players that are talking with other teams for next seasion because they have not decided if they want to stay with the wave after reading this I would think its a money issue .

Still, Lindenberg needs some help from the local business community to keep the nation's longest-running soccer franchise in the United States (29 years) in town.
In fact, he would not be opposed to handing off the ownership burden to someone else, should the right person step forward.

"I would not be against that and would not stop anyone with the adequate resources to purchase the team. In fact, I would encourage that. It is a fantastic networking opportunity and a great experience. My goal was to save this historical winning franchise and improve the organization. We have accomplished that. They must have the adequate resources and must continue The Milwaukee Wave's winning tradition on the field and in the community," Lindenberg said.

That's not what's going to appeal to a potential investor. They were a hell of a lot more attractive in 2001 when they were drawing 8k a game and winning than now. I doubt very much their value, whatever it is, has bupkus to do with back-to-back championships in a five and seven-team league.

The potential P&L statement is what's going to appeal to a potential investor, unless they find someone whose teenage son guilts him into buying it (again).

Think of all the indoor teams that have actually been sold over the last decade or so...actually transferred from one owner to another. It doesn't happen that often. These things aren't looked at as gotta-have investments. Whether they win or not.

I can think of the California Cougars and the most recent Steamers team (which was resurrected more than sold) as teams that have actually been sold. Unless you include the potentially apocryphal story of Hantz having bought the Cleveland Force for $1.

So is this more or less like the Dannon deal that kept the Baltimore Spirit in buisness for one more year?

anybody surprised? Wave are done. Best thing that can happen is the Blast, Rochester, Syracuse, KC and Wichita just merge with the PASL. You could have Eastern, Central and Western Divisions.
And yes, you either force the minor league PASL teams to move to a real arena that holds at least 5,000, or drop them period. Sorry Ohio, Detroit etc... you draw 300 people you are done.

Throw Harrisburg and Philly back into the mix with Baltimore and you have a great rivalry renewed again

Great plan. I guess you're throwing out Wichita and their 4,600 seat arena, too. You'll have us back to 7 total teams in no time.

The Wave would do well in the PASL. Actually after three years in the MISL and drawing nearly the same they did in the XSL, I'm surprised they haven't made the switch. More closer rivalries and cheaper annual dues are all qualities of the PASL for the Wave.

There would have to be a change in the tiers of the PASL though if the Wave came in.... They can't be playing teams drawing a few hundred, BUT there are enough quality teams to build a new higher tier in the PASL, I believe...

Not too big of a surprise, I wondered if they'd still be around (under current ownership) this season. The fact that he's apparently looking to get out seems to be one of the worst kept secrets in the league.

You've got to be naive if you think players on the Wave haven't been aware of the financial situation. All this article does is confirm what everyone has known for two seasons now. So I highly doubt these so mentioned players are making any decisions based on this one article. Come on... seriously? You so desperately want to be on the "in" with players across the league that you will repeat (0r make up) what ever (you think) you heard. You could get a full time job as the guy that 'fills in the blanks'. GET A CLUE! The Wave will be in the league this coming season. Why would any player on that team want to turn down a chance to win a third championship in a row? you have "Premature eSpeculation".... yes, you heard it here first.

What other teams are those "two" looking at?
It's not like any of the other teams are in a "better," relatively speaking, financial situation.

they are talking to a few clubs wings comets lancers blast .. I dont think the wave realy will win a 3rd title in a row last team to do it was the sockers I think they are just exploring options at this point like i think every player should do if they are only getting 1 year deals .
The wings are the only team so far to hold open tryouts for 2012-13 I think this will be a fun seasion all the expantion clubs no know what they need to do to win against the better teams in the league so i assume a lot of players will hit the chopping block in the next frew months . I would also think the Misl is going to release what new teams are in the league by the end of july to get them game dates booked for november 3rd open
If you go by past years the 1st game should be the Wave VS the Blast but I think the league will play the first few games inside its own divisions

What new teams? Even the MISL itself has pretty much said Chicago was the only possible new team and that apparently isn't happening.

So they're basically talking to everybody.

As any player who was out of contract would be able to do.

This is really a catch-22 situation. If the Wave were to win again next year or the Blast, I think the other teams are going to want them out of the league. But without either one, this league would be shabby.

trust me it will not happien a 3rd time , I expect the blast to pick up 2 proven defenders I think they need go after tovar .. and expect them to get 2 solid goal scores to add to the team in 2012-13 . I expect this year we will have a new champion

And I think that if both meet in the championship, the league will kick them out. Buffalo and Utica will replace them. Harrisburg and Dallas will bolt from the PSL. Then the Orioles will win the World Series and the Wizards and Bobcats will meet in the Eastern Finals. It's gonna be a whacky world.
