So it looks like Mix to Portland may not be happening:

    https://twitter.com/MerrittPaulson/status/280753140851167232

That could be a reference to any number of deals, but also worth noting is that until recently Paulson, who pretty much only follows his own players, was following Mix on Twitter, and now he is no longer following him.

It's more likely that their pursuit of Mix didn't work out and Wilkinson found some other midfielder down in South America... Mobi Fehr is 1) quite young and 2) a central defender, so I don't see how he is the "next option" after Mix.

    Perhaps it's stated better here:

    Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway

Although these countries are not members of the EU, their nationals can work in the EU on the same footing as EU nationals, since they belong to the European Economic Area.

You could be right and most likely are but FWIW Fehr has transitioned more into a d-mid according to an interview about a month ago with goal.com.

It's also possible that "next option" might refer to another player to use their high allocation order position on, so it would be a USMNT player but not necessarily a midfielder. In terms of team needs, a fullback would probably "make more sense" than a midfielder.

I can't really think of any USMNT fullbacks that could be interested in heading to MLS this year that would need to go through allocation. Portland already holds Bornstein's rights. Cameron and Lichaj are in the EPL, Parkhurst is out of contract but is likely to move to a top 4 league, Fabian isn't leaving the Bundesliga, Cherundolo could come to MLS at some point but I'd be shocked if it were this year, Castillo just won a title in Mexico. The only other guy I could think of is Spector. (Well and Fiscal or Simek....meh)

Mix, you're the man. We really appreciate your efforts here on BS. Either you are really good at self-marketing or you have a great PR person. Either way, you have certainly created an awful lot of good will from a very vocal segment of US soccer fans with your postings. You will hear it every time you step on the field for the US.

miklagard Mix, while you are in America you should do the "Men in Blazers" pod cast with Roger Bennett and Michael Davies! It is an absolute class production full of great banter and they have seemed to take a liking to you after your heroics in Russia!!

Nah not at all mate! I have nothing to do with the "Men in Blazers" pod, it is actually a quite well know pod in America, just think that the banter between Rog, Davo and Mix would be awesome and would introduce Mix to a lot of US soccer fans.

The saying "A man who wears many hats, doesn't like his haircut" clearly does not apply to Mix.

#42 or #21 or #0 will always be what I request.
What is more complicated is the color of the jersey.
It is a bit like the color of your skin, and very hard to change.

    Great clips. Thx.

My x-mas duties are pretty much lined up and in order. I can take time off for any first two Q's that I can/should answer right now. If interested - go!

    Mix,
What is your first memory of watching football on television? (Do you remember the match / a particular player)?

    1. Manchester United - Ryan Giggs
    2. First attended big triumph - Cup final - Vålerenga - Espen Musæus (his father was my school principal) John Carew also played in that game.
    3. First attended Natn'l game - USA - Norway. (have pictures - don't remember much - but you can guess what american player that played in that game and later became one of my coaches)

    Mix,

Thanks for digging into the memory bank. Much appreciated! As for the guess:

I'm going with Mike Sorber who played in both friendlies against Norway in late 93 and very early 94- one in Oslo, one in Tempe, Az, respectively.
