So ... any interest in doing a batch or two of beer again this year? If we can do this right, I'm looking at brewing on March 5th, bottling on the 19th...? That way we'll have the beers for the home opener. For people newer to the boards, we brew at IncrediBrew in Nashua, NH. Cases (12 bottles, 22oz each) come out to just under $40 per case, including bottles and our personal labels.
I'm in for a case assuming they're still around in May when I get back, don't think it's wise (or legal) to ship liquids, especially alcohol.
I'm thinking probably only 2/3 batches this time (like last year) ... which results in 12/18 cases (6 per batch).
Beer?????? Why not? 'specially since I have all this extra money from *not* buying season tickets. 2 or 3 cases myself. I'll see if the neighbor wants to join in.
Put me down for a case. Unfortunately, I will be travelling both weekends and can not attend either event.
Looking at Incredibrew's website these are some beer I think sound interesting: Black Widow IPA New 2011. Unique new style. A dark beer with a strong hop presence. Watch for the bite...it's deadly! Whiskey Barrel Porter A bold porter recipe but the real kicker is the addition of toasted American oak which has soaked in Tennessee Bourdon for 2 weeks. The result is a rich, smooth porter with a pronounced oak character and a hint of whiskey flavor that will have you bellying up to bar for another. Arrogant Brewer This is our version of the infamous West Coast Arrogant Bastard. Full malt flavor, an alcohol content to brag about and soaring hop character will leave you feeling better than everyone else! Tennessee Red New 2008. 6 oz. of whiskey soaked, toasted oak, added after fermentation is just the ticket to enjoyment of this full favored, higher alcohol, tasty red. Hazelnut Coffee Stout A pleasantly sweet stout with fresh Hazelnut coffee overtones. The smell alone will leave you jittery! Oatmeal Stout Not just for breakfast. This velvety smooth stout is paradise in your mouth. Rogg 'n Roll New 2011. Rye, wheat, barley and yeast complexity will get your taste buds roggin'. German style rye (Roggenbier) from our Brew School 2010.
Someone asked for a 90 minute IPA type ... damn, can't remember where this was asked for? Arrogant Brewer seems good though.
I like the top 3 and the last one sounds interesting. Count me in for a case, maybe 2. May be hard to make it up there during tax season but I'll see what I can do. The 5th is out but I might be able to make the bottling.
Arrogant Brewer is my top choice. Already have name and labels. Pay me the $15 Incredibrew label cost and I will have them hi-rez laser printed, hand cut, on adhesive backed paper. Oatmeal, coffee, hazelnut flavored beers -- not so much. Low rez image, not print quailty:
Unless I hear of more interest by Monday, I'll probably say only 2 at this point. That's 12 cases, and it seems like we can do that.
Catfish Head 60 Minute IPA Hops are raining down like Cats and Dogs as hops are added in large quantities for a whole hour. They list this one but none that say they are a 90 minute type. I haven't had either since I'm not big on IPA's though the Black Widow one sounds intriguing being a dark. I can front the money for a 3rd beer if we have enough interest.
I like the Arrogant Brewer choice. Label above looks superb (don't you need a light in the tower - One if by land?). Could we consider My Favorite Marzen and a Bock? Monty, double my purchase to 2 cases please. Lunch on me if you "deliver the goods."
