pairings announced: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Lamar-...gs-Announced-for-First-and-Second-Rounds.aspx 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Schedule FIRST ROUND -- Tuesday, May 15 Jersey Shore Boca (USASA) at Michigan Bucks (PDL): Ultimate Soccer; Pontiac, Mich.; 7:30 p.m. ET Croatian Eagles (USASA) at Chicago Fire PDL (PDL): Toyota Park Practice Field; Bridgeview, Ill.; 6 p.m. CT SECOND ROUND-- Tuesday, May 22 Jersey Shore Boca (USASA)/Michigan Bucks (PDL) Winner at Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL PRO): Chartiers Valley Stadium; Bridgeville, Pa.; 7 p.m. ET Dayton Dutch Lions (USL PRO) at Chicago Fire PDL (PDL): Toyota Park Practice Field; Bridgeview, Ill.; 6 p.m. CT OR Dayton Dutch Lions (USL PRO) vs. Croatian Eagles (USASA): TBD So.... we get a home game in the first round, but not the second, while Chicago would get a home game in the second??? Couldn't we have been paired with Dayton instead?
Remember, this Tuesday at the "Ult." http://www.buckssoccer.com/home/623332.html Quote-of-the-day goes to Gary Parsons, when asked what he knew about his first round opponent (Jersey Shore Boca): "My opponent? I don’t even know who MY team is.... We may have to put names on the backs of their jerseys so I know who is out there."
Bucks would host Chicago Fire, should they defeat Pittsburgh: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Lamar-Hunt-U-S-Open-Cup/2012/05/2012-US-Open-Cup-Pairings-for-Third-Round-Announced.aspx 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Schedule THIRD ROUND - Tuesday, May 29 Chicago Fire (MLS) at Michigan Bucks (PDL): Ultimate Soccer; Pontiac, Mich.; 7:30 p.m. ET - OR - Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL PRO) at Chicago Fire (MLS): Toyota Park; Bridgeview, Ill.; 7:30 p.m. CT Yesterday, the Jersey Shore Boca had some of the play, then the Bucks started to take over at about the ten-minute mark. Even after Jersey got a red card at 17:00, it took the Bucks well into the first half to actually score, but it was a comfortable 3-0 halftime lead; ending up 6-0. I taped the match, and looked at the red-card play; I guess it would account for a red card, since it was directly in front of the goal (20 yards out), and it was the last defender. But I'll also say that the video was a bit less convincing than it looked in the real play. Is Stephan St. Louis playing for both the Bucks, and Detroit City? I thought that his level of play was way too good for the NPSL-level. I kept thinking, "he could score 15 goals in this league." Cleveland quickly found that out, then started giving him the "star treatment" in the foul department.
The question I have is, who has his USSF registration? I would imagine that the team that does could make some trouble for the one that doesn't.
Looks like we have our answer, from the Free Press's chat with Dan Duggan. He's answering a question about the Bucks' 40-man roster:
We were going NUTS in the bar during the AODC night-before party...lots of high fives and prejorative "Fiireee" chants going for a few minutes.
Bucks' web site lists the game against the Dayton Dutch Lions (USL Pro), at Oakland U: http://www.buckssoccer.com/TicketInformation/index_E.html I guess the Bucks still have to work, to get the $10K bonus for being the ameteur team to go the farthest in the tournament, with California FC winning yesterday. And by the way, the Saturday, June 9, game at 7:30 against the Chicago Fire PDL is at Detroit Catholic Central High School: http://www.buckssoccer.com/Schedule/index_E.html
2013: Bucks host Dearborn Stars (the "no-cost travel" option): http://www.ussoccer.com/news/lamar-...nd-pairings-determined-for-2013-open-cup.aspx 10. Dearborn Stars (USASA) at Michigan Bucks (PDL) Ultimate Soccer Arenas, Pontiac, Mich. Tuesday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m. ET
Second round pairings: Location of the next match for the Bucks-Dearborn winner up in the air: http://www.ussoccer.com/news/lamar-...f-tuesday-night-with-two-play-in-matches.aspx 25. Michigan Bucks (PDL)/Dearborn Stars (USASA) winner at Dayton Dutch Lions (USL PRO) Beavercreek High School; Beavercreek, Ohio Tuesday, May 21, at 7 p.m. ET OR Michigan Bucks (PDL)/Dearborn Stars (USASA) winner vs. River City Rovers (PDL) TBD
Wow... dare we call it "the biggest intra-state upset in Michigan soccer history?" The Bucks played a totally listless game yesterday. They only got some good SOG's after Dearborn had taken the lead in the second half. Team Hand-Picked got thwacked by Team Not Really As Good As Them. The lead goal came on a spill by the Bucks goalkeeper. (Even Dan says "assist to the goalie.") When Dearborn didn't take a 2-0 lead on an open net, that's when I thought, "OK, play time is over; Bucks to roll." That didn't happen. Even if some of the Bucks players didn't get there until the day before, that result is just plain unacceptable. I keep trying to tell everyone that the Bucks are the best ameteur club in the country, but they sure pull off some real stink-bombs sometimes. Dearborn at Dayton Dutch Lions (USL PRO) next week. Winner goes to Columbus Crew Stadium the week after.
