Since Essien has been at Chelsea he's made two absolutely horriffic challenges. Now he's likely going to be banned in our CL knockout campaign (and chances are we'll play you, go figure). My question is, is ME really a dirty player in your opinion? I never really saw him play for Les Gones, and in most games he's fantastic for us, but to be honest I'm a bit worried by a couple of the tackles I've seen and I'd like to hear your opinion on this matter. Thank you.

Well they don't call him the Bison for nothing..... I would love Lyon to draw Chelsea though.... Houllier sticking it to either the ignorant twat that is Mourinho, or exacting revenge against Liverpool in the next round would be..... well..... priceless.

As a Lyon fan, I hope they don't draw Chelsea.

I hope Chelsea and Lyon meet in the final, but I think it will be decided, er, drawn (sorry, I must have coughed) that they will meet in the round of 16.

Essien isn't really a "dirty" or "tricky" player.

He's young and so physical that sometimes he just cannot control his strength . Once in a while he just "goes for it", i don't think he really wants to hurt but he play a 100% and forces his way, but again, without any malice.

i agree, he's not wantonly dirty; the hamann tackle was an accident.

he definitely has a temper problem, though. last year's match against monaco was very physical, and mike started to get hot. then he took an elbow from bernardi (now there's an assassin for you!) and he just went ape! the next 5 minutes he completely forgot the game, all that was on his mind was throwing elbows and giving late hits. even djila couldn't calm him, and before PLG could replace him he got the red card he was apparently after.

and if gnafron and guignol both say it, it's gotta be true!
