Orozco should go play for Mexico. We don't need an American Leonardo. If you want to throw elbows in minute 3, I believe the Mexican National team is your proper home. Mexico is going to expect you to do this when the referee is not right in front of you though Michael, fyi...

Can we also give Feilhaber back to Brazil as well? What did he do for his 45 minutes? He played with passion until minute 47. He complained like he meant it. He almost went for a few 50/50 balls. He almost megged a guy. He almost hit a few pretty passes. Friends, I think we have found our new Claudio.

I think your being a little harsh. I admit that was really stupid to do, especially in front of the ref, but the ref should have given him a yellow. It's early in the game and that was a half ass elbow in the chest, not the face. The Nigerian did a great Denilson impersonation and hammed it up. I chalk it up as a young mistake. I also thought Benny's movement and distribution was pretty good. I could do without the crying but he move the ball better than anyone else in that position throughout the tournament. I hope he does turn out to be the new Reyna, but time will tell. But I do agree with you that he needs fix that attitude. Thats probably why he can't get a game outside of U.S.

Wrong sport dude, who's the world champion? None other than the shirt-pulling-diving-cheapshots Italians thats who. If you want a clean game you should look into golf or bird watching.

it was a stupid thing to do, but you're way out of line with the nationality switching bit. even if you're joking...

neither had a great game and one of them probably cost us the game, but they are young players and will undoubtedly have a chance to prove themselves again sometime in the future with the senior team.

hell, look at chris albright. who'd of figured he'd ever put a us shirt back on after sydney?

Feilhaber did a good job giving us possession in the midfield, which opened things up some. It's not coincidence that his insertion coincided with a run of play when we were successful at getting forward.

Exactly. Benny didn't have his best day, but he helped us control the ball more and start up some attacks.

Benny's got a pass for as long as he lives, and that pass is called the gold cup winning goal.

The Orozco ruling was the correct one, FIFA is very strict in matters of that sort. If you are intending to hurt, and go after the chest or the head, It's an automatic red card. I'm not saying Orozco threw his hardest bow, but he definitely wanted that guy to feel it.

Orozco played poorly the whole olympics and then topped his under performance with a classless move.
Did you guys see his quote on ussoccer.com

    On receiving the red card:
“He saw that it was a red card, and there’s nothing I can do about it.”

Wow, totally remorseless. This just in Mike....you f***ed us!

Perhaps he's a distance relative of Oswaldo Sanchez

From what I read in Carlisle's article, Orozco just didn't want to talk about it. I'm guessing he knows he made a really stupid decision that completely cost us, and he can't justify it. He's just trying to move forward I'm guessing.

I don't dig it. If somebody wants to move forward after chopping our legs out from under us, a little public remorse is required. Maybe he just couldn't stomach an interview at that point. That's understandable.

Well what do you want him to say? "I elbowed him. I'm an idiot. I'm sorry." I'm sure he's sorry.

If you don't think he needs to apoligize, that's fine. But there would've been real class in that, which would help make up for the fact that he showed NO class when he threw an elbow into another man's chest, digging us in a hole in the process. There would've been dignity in it, but he chose to just "move forward".

There are plenty of people out there who are incapable of believing they are at fault. Orozco could very well be one of those people, of course I hope not.. You know, like Danica Patrick when she ran over that guy in the pit crew. Her public response was hilarious, she didn't give the slightest damn.

Wait. Am I reading this right?

Fatass whiny soccerfans, locked in their parents basement, posting on an internet messageboard, demanding an apology from a 22 year old making a living playing soccer for both our national team and in the most competitive league in North America.

Next think you know, all you ********************s will be wanting ponies that eat butterflies and shit rainbows.

Man, this country is ********ed. Everyone needs to just get off my continent unless your ancestors walked across the ice bridge from Siberia.

I don't know if he's fcuckin useless but he certainly hasn't done anything noteworthy lately that's for sure. He's still young though, let's see what happens. I thought he was going to deck that german ref the other day.

The whole play for Mexico thing is stupid and a bit racist. Orozco played poorly before the elbow so his international career will be on hold for a while. Why would Mexico even want him after seeing his performance? It's moronic speculation to say things like that.

As for Feilhaber I don't know why he seemed more interested in bitching to the ref all game instead of actually playing. Because he played a decent enough game, if he was more committed to playing instead of crying like a little girl when he didn't get a call I think that would've helped, or at least not made our country look like a bunch of whiny assholes.

Its an effing joke the way people want to hang Orozco out to dry. In fact the entire idea behind this thread is a laugher.

The kid was asked to play left back against some of the fastest wingers in the tourney. He's a center back. He was placed behind Rogers who, no disrespect to him, wasn't playing the best defense himself.

The kid's a good player and some jerk, who I'd bet has bitched about us losing Americans with foreign ties to their family's country of origin, is saying that he should go back to Mexico to play?!

    A real class act.

With fans like this, Edgar Castillo made the right choice after all.

Wish we could've gotten rid of these fans and kept Edgar.

I second that. I agree Orozco's elbow was boneheaded but the "return to Mexico" comments are just as dissapointing and boneheaded.

We've seen Orozco play a few games in his natural position in qualifying and he performed quite well. That he had a tough time being played out of position is hardly reason to exile him from the team. Once again, should we drop Beasley because he didn't play well in his appearances at LB? If Edu had a bad tourney as a CB would every be calling for his exclusion from the team even as a CM?.

As for Benny, the attack became much more cohesive and the team held possession much better once he came on. He seems to have some attitude issues but he continues to show his quality on the field for the national team.

Man this is pretty ridiculous. Orozco does great when he is playing his natural position of center back. It was a dumb elbow to get that red card, but if players like Michael Bradley and others can make dumb mistakes and still get called up, I think Orozco definitely deserves it should he play well for his club. Benny, on the other hand, needs to stop whining and get into the game more. I have a belief in Benny's ability and hope he can work on his attitude more. He is the best passing center mid we have when he has his head on straight. While both players have a lot to learn, I personally hope to see both the future.

That game has scarred me for life. If you mention the name Orozco or even try to take me to Costco in the next several decades, I will punch you straight in the face.

If that man ever puts on a US shirt again, I will punch you in the face a second time.

The guy has done absolutely nothing, and I mean look up the word NOTHING, since that goal in the Gold Cup. His time is up and should have been up a while back. Why do people love, defend, lose their rational thought, when it comes to BF? He's not, nor should he be, an option for us if we ever want to win anything, ever. He's the young Josh Wolff. Until this guy gets an f'ing job and proves every club he's played for in the past two years wrong, I don't want to see him wearing the Stars and Stripes. And, on top of all of that, he has an attitude problem.
