    Let me be El Chingon

Have said it before, many students of the research group I want to join went to UCSD for an externship. From the reports I've read from them you should be located at Pacific Beach, one had a villa with jacuzzi at 1h driving from it, not very handy. Other one was close to the beach and on walking distance to what she called the "Stratumseind" of San Diego. They do complain about the fact that 90% of the foreigners are Asian, they both had to search for non-Asian people at the International Lunch, but they managed to find them and go out and see things in the weekend with them.

Anyway, have to do more research. Australia is still very attractive. It will be for 2013-2014, second semester. Great opportunity to add a fantastic trip after the externship has finished. It must be an English country and it should be hot. I do not want to go to Boston.

There's a reason people from Boston are called "Massholes"

To be honest, if I were in your shoes......I'd pick Australia......however, if you went to San Diego you'll be near the So. Cal BSMX crew.......metal can tell you how awesome San Diego is, sanchito will tell you how god awful it is......smoke weed with danny.

2 hours away from LA......Chompo can take you to his favorite taco place, you and I can get super wasted, EStevo will fill your belly up with pupusas until you vomit & you'll meet la Naca.

    Australia can't offer you that.

Boring? you nuts? Pagz, Australia is fine, you won't experience diversity as much, outside of UCSD campus, which is 80% Asian it seems. San Diego is more diverse than Australia. Another plus, you are minutes away from the happiest place on earth: Tijuana.

    Thanks all

I'll annoy some of you guys again about this subject after I've chosen. Some questions about things you really need to do/see, good locations for a room and stuff. If one is willing to answer these questions by PM when it's time, I would be extremely grateful. I rather do that than mentioning it ágain on this board. But since I was reading about it the entire day and after someone brought San Diego up I could not keep me from asking about it again.

Have watched a lot of video's today and read the reports of the students who went, they where all very enthousiastic. It where, wierd enough, all girls, but I doubt the experience will be worse if you are a guy. I hope they accept guys there, lol.

I will probably ask them about their experience soon, and if it was as positive as it seems I'll start arrange it as soon I've picked my research group, probably in a 2 à 3 months. You can't start too early. Australia is great, but I'm not sure if they have decent research groups in the area I'm interested in, will have to ask some about it.

Dude!! your main attractions are Cannery row, the aquarium and fisherman's wharf.

We have the Scripps aquarium plus Sea world. We pwn you tere
Sea Port Village or any of the piers here pwnt your fisherman's thing over there
Cannery row is just a place to buy trinkets. (Come to think of it so is fisherman's wharf. )

We have better beaches and much better climate to enjoy them. No contest mi Pirru.
