    Good: No more groups

Bad: A team with a better league record gets no advantage with the group system. At least when it was head to head they had the tiebreak advantage.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

You get six games guaranteed if you make it to the liguilla instead of 2.

Ya I think the TV companies were behind this.

Will they have cuadrangulares as liguilla, like in Colombia?

    no it wouldn't

There would be games that would mean nothing.

Nowadays every game is important in the liguilla.

With the group stage will have games that are meaningless. Teams putting in subs because they already qualified to the finals.

Or a 3 versus 4 place team that have no chance to make it to the final.

    Why play?

Lol, dude that makes zero sense. Corona is the starting keeper of their second most important team they have tv rights for. Look back at the youtube videos and you will see them not making a huge deal about it. This will be tagged to Televisa way before it is tagged to TV azteca.

Nahhh Chepo is just being a bitch.

First he calls up Juarez and Barrera when he originally said he wouldn't call people who weren't playing and now he's "headbuting" Corona out of the Gold Cup squad for something that happened in the league.

Ahora que? Nos toca el rizitos de oro o el wey de Toluca?

    repito, que no mamen

Well, if Corona doesn't seek out the guy and head-but him, then Corona is still the starting keeper.

I also believe Corona is done with Cruz Azul. And he might be done altogether, pacto de caballeros style.

On to the liguilla format Let's see by the numbers
    Current format

    • 153 games to eliminate 10 teams
    • 8 Games to eliminate 4 teams (Qtr finals)
    • 4 games to eliminate 2 teams (Semifinals)
    • 2 games to decide the champion
Total of 167 games for each tournament

    New Format

    • 153 games to eliminate 10 teams
    • 24 games to eliminate 6 teams
    • 2 games to decide a champion
Total of 179 games for each tournaments

    Yup Decio did it again

Stupid directivos can't get anything right. You end up eliminating the groups and doing well and then screwing it up. I can't believe people outside the BSMX noobs could be so eager to prove critics right. People all the time complain about the televisoras and they end up basically proving their critics right. It's pathetic how they are almost FIFA directivo brazen. More games in the liguilla and no final games outside of prime time and then they want people to buy into how the Televisoras aren't in control. Idiots.

So it's a double round robin liguilla? If it was single round robin, you could still make it interesting by allowing the team with the better record in any given matchup host the game. So #1 would host 3 games, while #4 (in the group) would be on the road for 3 games. I agree that a double round robin format takes away the advantage from being better throughout the season, and don't like it.

And they go from 8+4+2=14 games to 8+8+8+2=26 games, with only one additional weekend. I guess that's the solution to the protests over the 2 minute in-game commercials. Twelve extra games.:D

Question- would you be in favor of a tiebreaker based on regular season record over the typical goal differential tiebreaker they'll probably use? (post points)

Why not, Vela needs to find stability and coming to Copa America/Oro is not going to achieve it. Hopefully the kid realizes that his window is closing at Arsenal and does his best this summer to earn a spot.

Is it Vela thats giving the national team the "F-U" or is it Arsenal saying they don't have to give him up because Mexico is invited to the Tourney?

Big Difference. If its Vela saying screw the NT then its him getting screwed. He needs the exposure, he doesn't have a future at Arsenal IMO.
