Hope people don't boo him. People in Mexico don't really understand how not as important are the olympic games in world football.

No mames Layun. This should be 7-0 by now.

I bet Salcido, Aquino, Maza, Corona(gk), and Zavala start.

    Vela de perfil cambiando? #notsureifwantbro
I honestly think that Guardado as a second DM with a true DM like Molina/Zavala and Vela as a wing on the left is the only way to have all of gio/guardado/vela together

He's been playing as RW for Sociedad alot this season, and doing really freaking good. Dude can play all along the front, but he's not as suited to the lone striker role.

I wonder if a 4-4-2 would work. Normal back 4, with Guardado out on the left, Corona (i dont care how young he is, he provides more than Aquino, imo. Although he would never be called up this soon) or Aquino on the right, Zavala/Gio in the middle, and Cheech + Vela up front.

I honestly think Vela could be like an RVP for Cheech in el tri. Cheech is the deadly finisher, and Vela the more well rounded player.
    :coffee:

    So many possibilities.

Poor Zavala would end every game spitting blood from having to do all the work in the middle. Gio is a lot of things, but a midfielder that has to help in defense isn't one of them.

It'd be like when Meza decided to play Abundis as a DM during the darkest times of Mex in 2001

Lol you're right, and against stronger oppostition no way that lineup would fly. Now I might be underestimating Jamaica, but i dont think a Mexico lineup like that would have any problems against them. I also just want to see Vela+Cheech together leading the line.

Its important to start strong though, and Chepo will definately choose a the tried and true formation+players he's been chosing to be safe. I bet Vela comes in as a sub near the end of the game anyway.

    who is?
I've seen some here placing him in the Gold Cup squad which is crazy IMO since he's only played a few games in Primera, he should be at the U-20 world cup and pwnt people there then we can talk about playing with the big boys.

Losing young promises is pretty ********ing normal. We were rather lucky that we got Gio, Vela and Moreno as pillars of our current national team from the 05 team. Look at Spain's team who won the 99 u20 world cup (a cup which many Spaniards give credit for beginning a new era of positive attitude after years of being the "jugamos como nunca y perdimos como siempre" team,) only two players went on ot be part of the current national team (Iker y Xabi.)

I remember reading a mediotiempo article where they made a remark that most U17 teams are lucky to have one or two players go on to have strong showings in the senior teams Even on that aspect we've had more success given that Juarez Andrade and Alderete have been part of the senior team at some point or another.

If we are able to get one or two good prospects from the 11 team it'd be a succesful crop again.

Yeah. I remember that dumbfvck Guatemalan in Jorge Ramos saying how Mexico wasn't successful with that team because unlike other teams, we only had 3 guys doing well with the senior NT. I wanted to call to call him out on his BS and tell him how teams like the France u17 world champion of 2001 had NOBODY doing anything with their NT but I had stuff to do. Still kind of regret it.
