From what Im hearing, Piojo is going to determine if Gio is fit for the squad. Piojo is supposedly looking at the next 2 games to see if Gio is back to 100%. Gio has had a tendency of taking a while to be back at full strength.
Not when at Villarreal though, he's always come out strong, the problem is when they rush him and he gets injured again.
So apparently Real Garcilaso in Peru didn't learn their lesson after the incident with Tinga in the Copa Libertadores: on their main website, they published an announcement of their upcoming Copa Inca match with Alianza Lima. The problem being that as Alianza Lima have historically been associated with black players (they are popularly known as "grones"), this was pretty blatantly racist. The league reacted immediately with an empty-stadium punishment for this weekend's game, an especially hard hit for a small team like Garci that only manages to sell out its home stadium in Urcos when Alianza or Universitario visit.
With Mexico struggling it's probably going to be worse but I think 2014 is going to be a bad world cup. It all looks like it will be 2002 all over again. I hope I'm wrong but I think that the situation looks pretty similar. I've said it a lot of times but I really remember how prior to 2002, there was all this talk about how the players and teams were so professional because of the really hectic calendar. There was the really long champions league that was well fought and had even 2 groups stages at that time. The leagues were also all battling for titles. I have the vivid memory of Luis Garcia and Andre Marin all saying how with a world cup in play, "Estos jugadores no se estan guardando nada y esta siendo super profesionales en matarse por la liga y Champions". Of course I don't remember what those dolts said (probably nothing) when those same players then tanked in the world cup. The whole playing season really fvcked them up and it was no surprise that the team with their stars being more rested (Ronaldo and Rivaldo missed a lot of the season with injuries, Ronaldinho only had league play with PSG) won the world cup and many of those stars had nothing left in Japan and South Korea. Things look very similar now in a way. I don't think since 02 I have seen people be less concentrated on the world cup and I think this will end up costing them. Hope I'm wrong though.
Now we know which teams are losing at the World Cup. Dat Curse... lol that Howard was scored on by a nobody.
