But he flat out said he didn't take them because of the criticism of the press.

    Link?

All I heard him say was the circumstances required a different approach at the time.

He never got on board with the media in blasting the Euros, and we know Piojo speaks his mind.

He always maintained he wouldn't discard the Euros for the world cup despite the bullshit swirling around.

Thats the unfortunate thing about piojo.....he does fall for the media hype. He admitted that the only reason he called fabian was also because of the media/fan pressure.

But there are plenty of instances that I've already cited where he didn't care.

Piojo only listens to Pelaez and himself. He's a stubborn dude much like Vasco, who only consulted Mario and didn't care about the media or whatever.

I don't expect Fabian to make it to the world cup.

He said that if he would have called them up "ustedes los criticarian" which definitely shows it was a huge part. Sure he didn't discard them but having them for that playoff with all the criticism leaped on them (led by Martinoli) definitely played a huge part in him not calling them up. So to say he doesn't listen to the media is wrong imo.

Agree to disagree. That seems like it's taken out of context. If anything, he's basically criticizing the media for their stance on the euros.

He didn't call up the Euros not because he was trying to protect them from the big bad media.

He did so because he believed a team comprised of players he knows, with more chemistry and who are more used to playing in Mexico, would be more effective in the playoff.

Piojo always said the Euros would be a part of the process after the playoff.

After the CC neither Memo or Corona looked good. People forget how timid he came off his line.

No doubt he has been playing well for Ajaccio but it wasn't until the Nigeria game that I saw him play with the same confidence he plays with in France.
