Chuy's compa Nicolas Navarro might have some influence (maybe too much) as well because I bet coaches take his input on the matter.
This shit always happens to Ochoa. I remember him starting vs Brazil in Copa America '07 and was brilliant. Of course Hugo starts Oswaldo vs Argentina in semis and was at fault for the first goal. *facepalm* Ni modo.
it was the semis vs Argentina. just like the 2005 Confederations Cup, I'll always wonder what could've been if we got past those damn argies and reached the final of both tourneys.
4 years ago i was all set to see my hero Ochoa start in the WC and vasco facked it up and it happened again no hay justicia
Metal is right. At least our starting goalkeeper this time isn't some short tubby bald dude without a team. *Sigh* Mamadas.
That was total bullshit. That should have been Memo's World Cup. Even now they should look at vids and see the kind of shots he is stopping and who he is playing against. Keepers in the Mexican league are hardly tested.
But but he screwed up one shot in some friendly vs North Korea. El conejo era mas seguro, tenia funcion en el sistema de Vasco, tenia salida, experiencia, etc Puras pendejadas.
It's a huge part the media and Azteca. Ever since Ochoa was in America, Martinoli and the Azteca crew hated him and made a campaign against him and when you have 2 networks and one of them has a bad reputation in some people minds, it's a heavy thing. It's insane how some people don't see the Chuy campaign those fvckers have. Thus Corona is the hipster choice and Ochoa is looked as the guy from the establishment. If anybody has any doubt, just look at all those stupid posts by Lukato. It's too common in Mexico and every day it's get worse. Hopefully someday Martinolli does something terrible and his credibility goes out the window or something.
In terms of public perception, yes. Piojo doesn't give a damn about the media though. He didn't flinch at getting rid of Salcido with the quickness. And the media still slobbers all over him. Or starting Raul Jimenez at America when others preferred they bring in a more proven striker, preferably foreign. People were tired of the carousel of Tony Lopez, Danny Marquez, and Raul Jimenez. Not to mention Layun. It's hilarious looking back how he was scapegoated for everything.
If he doesn't care about the media, why did he not take the euros to the New Zealand game and flat out say that he didn't want them to get criticized by them? Maybe he cares less than others but I doubt it has no influence.
Because he did the typical Mexican coach thing of being comfortable with what you know. Nothing to do with the media. I actually didn't disapprove of that decision at the time. People were actually freaking out thinking we were going to take America to the world cup.
We're not taking 10 America players and leaving the Euros out of the world cup is my point. It was irrational panic.
