I was referring to the part about Belgium being a powerhouse.

I never said that the Belgian was a power house. You claimed I said that.

    Then you talk about derailing.

Did you imply that Senegal run or Turkey's was better than what Mexico has done?

    No. You inferred that.

Do you imply that what Mexico has done in 5 straight knockout rounds is better than what Holland has done over the same time period, missing a WCs, one semi, one final and one round of 16?

My point is that going to 5 straight knockouts is not the great achievement everyone here seems to think it is. Winning one knockout in 6 is failure. Period.

Raf, tell me. If we go to 3 or 4 more straight knockout rounds but do not win a single knockout match, will you be OK with that?

Depending on how you answer, there really isn't any point in discussing it further...

Yes, @Various Styles explained it clearly. He wanted us to not qualify, so that we learn.

    All part of the plan.

    lol you are kidding right?

You remind me of el perro y las dos tortas.

Criticize the FMF for playing it safe and stick with the status quo when what that has brought them respectable results at the international stage.

When they finally attempt to overhaul the system, to break that glass ceiling, you are one of the first to argue why the plug needs to be pulled on the project at the first sign of trouble and asking for your flavor of the month coach.

You are as bad as the terrible posters in this regard.

I assume you are referring to my wanting Chepo's head.

If that is the case, then you are misrepresenting my position as much as Rafa does.

To that I will say what I told you before. I see no reason why we have to sacrifice current results for future ones. I was never in favor of 'pulling the plug' as you say. I was simply calling out the manager for his sheer incompetence and malfeasance as well as the FMF's backward way of going about the 'project'.

Chepo was a terrible coach, plain and simple. He lost the plot but the resident blow-hard apologists called everyone who wanted him out spazzos. This has been one of the only times were Rafa and I have actually been in agreement. He was the reason why we almost didn't qualify for Brazil.

Having a long-term plan is excellent but it need not come at the expense of current results. The problem is that so many, including you believe that there was only one way to go about it.

    Fack Nestor's plan.

"Partidos moleros pay for the youth setup."

The FMF has always been about profit first and foremost.

We can schedule games against better opponents on neutral or even away grounds and still make plenty of money to support the youth teams and other FMF initiatives. No one wants to admit this though, especially you and VS.

The league needs a serious overhaul but that is a different conversation for a different thread. The only thing I will say is that the FMF is also to blame for the league's issues for obvious reasons.

It has to be done a certain way or you guys won't support it. You bring up respectable results but every time I hear 'respectable' and 'respectability', I can't help but think of spazzo nad fans who desperately seek it.

We need to be going for trophies, not respectability.

Do I think we can win a World Cup if we played our best players? Probably not. But I'd settle for the occasional QF appearance ON TOP OF our regular round of 16 appearances.

(in B4 one of you suggests one is better than the other as if we couldn't have both. I'm looking at you, Rafa).

I have no issues with us playing "partidos moleros" during non-fifa dates, but we keep wasting fifa dates on them.
We could easily play the 6 games to serve CUM or SUM what ever they are called on non-fifa dates and save the few fifa dates to play decent games away from the US.

    This.

Like insurance companies, they could do the right thing and make plenty of profit (albeit less than by not doing the right thing), but instead they focus ONLY on money and very superficially on the sporting.

BRB, gonna schedule USA in Azteca.

BRB again, gonna schedule USA in Phoenix after humiliating result against them in Azteca and nearly not qualifying for the WC when we could be scheduling games against better teams. Oh wait, they want too much money even though we have a shitload.

    Pendejos.

BRB, gonna hire a neanderthal coach after 3 coaches in 5 minutes and give him the reins after 2 mediocre results against weak opposition.

    He's the messiah...

I've set the bar low with Piojo.

If we even get to the second round with that pendejo in charge, I will admit I was wrong.

If he calls up Negro Medina, Moises, Aguilar, Maza and other pendejos like that and wins even a single game, I will hail him as a retard savant...
