iPad format would be legit. Sorta tight on the phone. But it reminds of FIFA on the PSP from years ago ... pretty nice.

I used to own a couple of those.

I actually won one of these bad boys from a cereal promotion. I opened the box and there was an instant win coupon for a kazoo mp3 player.

No love for the minidisc player from Sony? It still sounds better than an MP3....uses ATRAC I think...long battery life and and a hd mini disk holds about 30 hours of great sounding music...I use this format today.

Need some leet help with my interwebs at home.

So my new house is prewired for network connections in almost every room.
I found the junction box in the garage, it has the cable wires, a bunch of disconnected network cables, and wires for the previous owners security system.

Right now all I have is a Motorola Surfboard and a Belkin wireless/wired (3 ports) router.

what do you think I need to get this home network going?

    I think I counted 8 ports total (2 master, 2 in the 2 bedrooms, 2 living room, 1 kitchen, 1 diningroom)

I was thinking about getting an 8 port wired router and putting it in that junction box in the garage. Would a network switch work better?

I want to put the wireless router in the kitchen since its centrally located, which means I need to connect it to the network port in there, is it possible to put a router downstream like that?

Thanks to all the leet haxors

    yes it is possible.

put a switch in the garage to connect all your ports.

In the kitchen put your wifi router, then connect it to the port in the wall so all your other ports get access to internet via your router. done.

you just wont use that port in your kitchen for your laptop, cuz its used by the wifi router. the wifi router probably has 4 wired ports so use that.

    good to go

I tried that in the bedroom where I set up my office/computer room, but for some reason the network port from that room to the garage wasnt wanting to work

I ran 1 wired port to the wall, and 1 wired port to the computer, and in the garage I tried all the network cables and none of them worked, I guess I will try this in all the rooms, see which one works.

you need to know what cables in your garage go to what ports in the house.

connect all the cables in your garage to 1 switch, then connect a laptop to each port throughout the house. you should see the link light on your switch come up when you do connect a pc/laptop to say your port in your bedroom. if not then your cable ends may be bad.

when you go from a switch(in garage) to a switch(in kitchen) they should connect fine, even though in some cases(mostly back in the dizay) you would need a crossover cable.

    they are cat 5

the security system wires are all labeled and bundled up and pushed up out of the junction box.

I hope the cable ends arent bad, that would suck

Do you have a smart panel? Who is providing internet service for you? You have to find out where their modem is and map it from there...if you have a smart panel and they are backfeeding all the ports should be "hot" and good to go.

not easy but easy enough...you just need to make sure you follow the same color scheme as the other end of the cat5.
