Blizzards for the NFL, I imagine, though I don't know NFL history.

And there have to be MLB playoffs that have been interrupted by tropical storms, etc, in the past. With baseball though, you just play twice a day to make it up.

    Other than that, doubtful.

I love how this rivalry is already heated up before we've even played game 1. You can't tell me this isn't the best rivalry in the league. This will be a historic bone of contention for whoever loses.

New Orleans Saints had some problems after Katrina. Obviously they couldn't play in the dome. I think they played at LSU but I'm sure they missed some regular season games.

The Saints were forced to play their "home" game in New York like 4 days after Katrina. Against the Giants. lol.

What I'm saying is, let's play both legs at RFK.

There are plenty of examples where games have been played behind closed doors, with no fans. (Usually because the home fans are misbehaving.) There are also examples where teams play home games at venues not their own. For example, in Soviet times, Dynamo Kyiv played European tournament matches in Tbilisi, Georgia, because of the weather. I'd have no problem moving the game to Sunday if that would help, but if the players can get to the stadium, they need to play.

Yeah in Minnesota we had the dome collapse which cancelled and postponed a game, but it was during regular season. In the regular season there's always flexibility to make things up, but in the playoffs the whole system gets held up and other teams start having to postpone their games.

But I agree with others ... under no circumstance do we give up home field advantage. It's not insensitive. We have to remember that these coaches' and players' careers and contracts depend on the results they get. They don't get paid a ton and careers can be short in MLS so it seems callous to punish them for something that's out of their control. They fought hard for that 2nd seed and it meant a lot to them. Just read those tweets after the Chicago game.

Rumor is that we are hosting Saturday as Red Bull Arena is closed. A friend heard so on WTOP.

Exactly. I don't know who in RBNY-land is complaining, but this is professional, big-boy sports, and when jobs are on the line you put on your big-boy pants and deal with external matters. What happened in the tri-state area is awful, but United earned home field. If the NFL can move a home game to a neutral site or even the opposition field because of a natural disaster, so can MLS.

Due to storm impact, D.C. United & Red Bulls have switched #mlsplayoff dates: RFK on Sat., New Jersey on Wed.

At this point I'm feeling pretty much close to being done with MLS. Absolute shambles.

    Pathetic.

Why did we put everything on the line for that 2nd seed?

I can't believe all of this is being put on the backs of Ben Olsen and the players. So out of this whole messy situation those guys in that locker room are going to take the primary hit to make everyone else feel better.

More ammunition for the team to just win both legs and avoid overtime.

I certainly wasn't one of them. Now I have to at least take another half-day off from work.

    I wasn't, either.

I'll still be at RFK on Saturday night, however.

The 1989 World Series had a 10-day postponement due to the Loma Prieta Earthquake which happened right before Game 3 was to start.
