discouraged by the lack of philly independence gear at modell's and city sports, as well as the exorbitant prices at those same places for union gear, I recently bought through the team site. they have $10 shirts and $20 scarves for sale and many other items. they offer shipping or in store pick-up at several locations including warrington (doylestown)
just thought I'd share this find in case any of you were unaware

also the wpsphilly website has a fan survey, and a fan users group that is not quite as active as the one on bigsoccer, but it's a good idea to join it if for no reason other than to just to help get their numbers up!

I follow the team from southern California. I've seen their stuff online. But it's unclear, do they jerseys still not have the front sponsor? I'd want to be assured of that.

Also, another member of the XXL Club.

The jerseys only fit tiny people! I would love a jersey that fits real sized people. I would LOVE to have a name jersey in a Women's Large! Also, just a suggestion, but the t-shirts really should say that the Philly Independence is a WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM of the WPS, because otherwise you are losing all of that great advertising about who in the heck they are! I have a couple of t-shirts, but no one would have a clue that it is for a soccer team!!! I think getting the sizing right is a MUST for teams to understand.

The away kit in a unisex would be so balling. I'd wear that shit on the regular. It's one of my favorite kits.

Luckily, I'm one of those damn thin folks.

As far as I know the Shirts do not have the sponsor, next year they will as the sponsor signed on after the season started

agreed. I love the jersey and I want to support the team, particularly Rodriguez 8, but the home jersey, even the replica, has like sort of a woman's figure outline along the bottom of it. If I wore it on the street as a young man I would get mugged. a Unisex uni would be a great addition.. . for next year. I settled on tshirts instead.

also , the phila-del-phia shirt is a very cool pattern IMO but doesn't identify much if at all with soccer, let alone a women's club. a more prominent slogan identifying the WPS would be nice, as would a player "jersey" that shows the player's face like the ones with caricatures or illustrations you can buy with Utley's impression on them, or Victorino or Werth or Rollins in a sporting good store. I know we are talking high volume and big bucks here but if done right it would be great "free" advertising for the Independence. also a tshirt night where the first 4,000 fans get a sponsor t-shirt might go a long way in getting the brand image out there, since other teams rely on giveaways to push attendance and to create synergy among the great fans you already have.

hope I'm not coming across as critical in any way, this is just good brainstorming and you can take it if you like it or if not you can throw it right back! I support the team no matter how they market it and they make do, but it would be nice if the rest of this city - casual fairweather fans or the ones that don't know we have a team - were made to feel like they were missing out on a great thing, so that they want to get involved on some level.

    How about a T-Shirt for

    Philly Soccer

    Philly Soccer Fan

    Philly Soccer Fanatic

    Philly Soccer Mom

    Philly Soccer Dad

Stick on both the Union and Independence logos and as many sponsors as you can fit in the space left over.

I'll bet the Cheesesteaks have not sold a single T-shirt to an adult male yet.

The lack of marketing initiative is simply mind boggling.

So. Are you going to do something to help out w/ that? Or just sit at your computer and complain? You've been a real negative Nancy in your posts from last night.

Believe me, I get frustration and concern over the fate of the league looks wistfully at her Carolina Courage magnet but you could try to actually improve things.

Doesn't get out Mom's cellar much?

On a different note, the Breakers had a unisex/mens style last season that was similar to the game jerseys (and about half the price). I don't see it this year in the online stroe (unless it is one of the several T-Shirt/Training top options.) PUMA does make other styles, seems like this item from last year would be a good option throughout the league from the posts I see.

he has a point about the men's shirts market. for men I like the logo tee better (I just don't really think a gray jersey is good enough for team promotion, since casual fans wouldn't know it's our colors) but I haven't even seen the logo tee sold at games. I got mine on special order at SV sports.

Ok, they do have the size XXL because I have seen them worn at the games, since the second half of the season, I cannot find any. Hopefully I can get one at the start of next season, I understand that a lot of time they are done in limited numbers for the size
