I think it was for me.
Too bad montella was only caretaker.
I'm tempted to say so, least it was for me, it's a combination of:
LE can't seem to get results when we need to, how many times have we been given gifts like this and thrown them away with LE?
We didn't just lose, we got humiliated to a serie B team
It seemed so easy to break us today, simply pressure our midfield and the whole team breaks down
The broken records are starting to stack up, first lost against Lecce, we lose the two derbies in a year, etc... these things stick in people's minds, certainly did in mine
We should, by all means, be close to where Fiorentina is, we've just gotten lucky our opposition has been so good to us...
Not for me. The players were at fault here, especially Heinze.
That is true, but one can't deny we concede the same goal each and every week.
The funny thing is that I just watched the highlights of the game...Heinze was at fault on all 4 goals including the one that came from a corner...Besides, we could still have tied the game if not the miracle saves from their keeper...Lamela had an assist and a really beautiful FK...
Highlights if anyone cares...
Two beautiful goals in 2 minutes does seem to piss me off at this result more, somehow.
for me, I have seen a sligh improvement and little growth, however,
you never know what will happen next season.
Roma capello was in 6th in his first year and the next one, he won the scudetto with reinforcement.
should we do that, it will be good.
this current squad is kinda weak to challenge ,though I think LE is doing good with them.
lets just hope they bring us a strong mercato
the thing is no matter what we speak it doesnt matter. Sabatini & Baldini have there tongue stuck up to LE's ass. They arent going to fire him.
And LE wont resign.
Our only hope is this year serves a lesson for LE, and he gets some advices from other historical coaches for next year. I would like to see a good assistant manager to LE too. Someone like Tassotti at Milan.
The one thing I feared by bringing in all these young players is becoming the Arsenal of Italy. I'm glad we are investing so much into our youth. But we can't win games like this. And what's even more scary is in a couple years when Totti is gone and our offense is completely made up of 21 or 22 year olds.
We need some grit and experience. We looked beat the second we conceded the goal.
If we have to ditch LE for this then whatever. I just don't want to be known as barcalite in Italy where we play sexy football, but lose to relegation teams.
Brilliant free kick by Lamela.
Our attack is really not that bad, don't fool yourself. If you took only the first 45 minutes we would be at the top of the table. The problem is the midfield and defense.
Definitely, our attack is quite OK, where you can nearly count on anyone...Osvaldo, Borini, Lamela, Bojan, Totti...On the other hand midfield is not full at all, while defense is non-existent...Just count how many of our goals have been one-on-one
Today one of the main problems was the lack of link between the midfield and attack...De Rossi is too deep to provide that function, Gago and Marquinho are simply not capable...In other games it is either Totti who drops back and acts as a link or Pjanic who try that vital role...
What some of us have been saying all year, totti still fills the function of the link player like no other. Some shout we need to try this that and the other and claim totti is to slow. It is simple, Totti still links the attack from the midfield like no other we have on this team. He is as still as indispensable as ever. He may not have the legs to carry the attack but he performs a different function that so may are quick to right off at any given chance
I agree, La Magica.
Totti may not be the legs of this current team but he certainly is the brain. The problem's on display today certainly go beyond Totti's absence but we lack leadership and experience when he is not playing. He does not shy away from the ball, too many players can be accused of hiding from responsibility today.
I'd say we have experienced three humiliating games this season in Serie A - Atalanta away (4-1), Fiorentina away (3-0) and today's game against Lecce (4-2). Totti did not play in any of these games. I'm not saying he is solely the reason for these shocking defeats but when he does not play there seems to be a heightened lack of discipline and passion throughout the team.
Very good point and nice observation that Totti was missing in all the humiliations. It's kinda of sad and pathetic that this club still relies on a man well past his prime.
We need a commander at the back,a general in midfield and a captain up front to instil some leadership and discipline on the pitch in gritty games.
DDR's point on how we concede the same goal each week is so true and so annoying. Can we blame it on our defenders lack of ability in dealing with these situations? Yes. Can we blame the coach for not dealing with this problem? Yes. LE needs to realise there is two phases football, attacking AND defending. I know LE has the philosophy 'attack is the best form of the defence' but right now that's not going to work.
I've noticed LE has been wavering away from his ideology too which annoys me, stubbornness is annoying but i can respect a man who sticks to his principles recently I've been noticing less flowing football and a lot of long balls which it'd very disappointing. LE needs to address our defensive issues himself or by getting an assistant either that or he's not the right man to be bringing this project further.
I'm not saying the attack is bad. It just doesn't have any direction when Totti is out. We have great individual skill but no cohesive play.
And no one to push these young players to grind these kind of results out.
Hey guys we'll sell you Muriel for cheap
i think Napoli is going for him i think or it might be another lecce player..
All i can say about this game is "WTF' ,soo this was a team thats in relagation and we get destroyed by them?
forget the midfield and striker transfers , we need to get rid of weak and clueless defenders , and get in some world class players, a team is nothign without defense. i hope enrique does this next season if he is still around.
and how are we surpose to compete in the champions leauge when we bellow average when we play away from Roma
yeah good observation
the world is ending...
Yes Romanista89, I think there is a link to the pathetic away games when he is not on the pitch, even ahead of the tactics. It is all the little things that a 35 year man still does. Being in the right space, knowing when to slow it down, when to speed it up. When he plays opponents are still more worried about him and he takes the pressure of. We lack character
When Spalletti was about to win the title and playing without Totti we were defeating these pathetic opponents. Let's not make any silly excuses.
