No way that is the formation. It makes no sense.

Just give us the 4-2-3-1. Bradley and De Rossi above the defense in a pully type system where when one goes forward, the other covers. Totti is the trequartista (no matter what formation we implement he always drifts into the treaquartista - why have we been fighting this for so long?). Pjanic on the right and Lamela on the left.

For me the only 4-2-3-1 is with Totti at the top. Trying to put him in a trequartista position on the formation is insanity in my opinion. He doesn't have the legs for it:

    Mr. World Cup Final
    Piris - Marcos - Burdisso - Torosidis
    De Rossi - Bradley
    Lamela - Pjanic- Florenzi
    Totti
Alternatively I still like the idea of a 4-3-1-2
    Mr. World Cup Final
    Piris - Marcos - Burdisso - Torosidis
Bradley - De Rossi - Florenzi
    Pjanic
    Lamela - Totti
Osvaldo takes a needed weekend on the stands to contemplate his idiocy, hopefully he doesn't spend the entire time looking for Rock & Roll girls. I also would not mind seeing Tachtsidis next to De Rossi but I figure his time at Roma is done, not his fault but the mob has spoken. Sad as it may be.

DDR, I like the idea of Florenzi as more of an attacker rather than in the central midfield because I think he has the speed and willingness to shoot that would be a benefit. My only worry with your formation of Totti up top is that Totti likes to drift deep to collect the ball, he might not leave space for Pjanic to operate. What do you think?

I forgot to mention that I would also be willing to try Florenzi in the middle. Ultimately my idea is that whoever is sloted behind Totti is going to interpret the roll in a Perrotta fashion. I'd probably say that Florenzi has an edge on that in regards to Pjanic.

I think right now we have to find a way to make Pjanic and Totti work together at all costs. If one or the other goes out it will lead to drama. Obviously Totti will drift back and Pjanic will need to exchange position with him. It could work, perhaps not immediately but with time. Pjanic is the one that will have to be strong and adapt his play.

I like the 4-2-3-1 because we can easily morph into a 4-4-2 in the non-possession phase. Totti, who late in the season is losing some of his legs can always stay up top ready to take off. Then the other player that remains slightly elevated can rotate under the course of the match.

It be a good moment to test it out because no one will give two craps if Osvaldo is benched.

I doubt it. I think Stekelenburg will play until the end of the season.

Balzaretti returned to training with the group today. Dodo is missing in action again.

I just saw Taddei in defense  If that happens they need to immediately call Zeman back.

Our midfield, on paper should, SHOULD be the 2nd best in Serie A. Behind Juve, of course..

I feel if Pjanic - De Rossi - Bradley were on a different team together they would be outstanding

If that happens, will you still think Andreazzoli deserves more time ? ;)

I couldn't disagree. Bradley played in Chievo. He would make a fantastic bench player, he's not a starter on any top Serie A team. Pjanic is a trequartista through and through, suited to playing the top of a diamond behind the strikers.

Our midfield sucking so bad is exactly why we are in this position.

Hopefully Taddei won't play in defence even as fullback.

I disagree. I think our forwards are laughably terrible. All of them.

    Stek
    Marcos De Rossi Burdisso
    Piris Bradley Florenzi Marquinho
    Pjanic

    Lamela Totti

    ---------------------Lobont -------------------------
    Piris---------Marcos------Burdisso--------Torosidis
    ----------------------De Rossi-----------------------
    -------------Bradley------------Florenzi------------
    ----------------------Pjanic--------------------------
    -------------Lamela----------Totti-------------------

This is how I would play it...or alternatively move Florenzi to Pjanic place, De Rossi into Florenzi, and Taxi into De Rossi...
