Some interesting bits scattered in there: - He says Roma does not have an official set of written rules regarding what is expected in terms of discipline and behavior from the players. I find this to be almost shocking, every business gives their employees a guideline of what's expected. - In regards to Stekelenburg he says the players was excluded after Parma due to injury. He says at that point in time even Lobont was absent due to injury and therefore Goicoechea entered. He went on to say he was satisfied with Goicoechea performances. Going back to Stekelenburg he says he has always asked him for more participation. However Stekelenburg keeps himself isolated and out of the group. He says that the fact Stekelenburg only speaks English and so few on the team speak English might be contributing to this. - Regarding Torosidis, he said the players has been playing regularly and should be ready to enter the group. He also said up until now he's only tested Torosidis on the right flank, the side Piris plays on. - Feels Pjanic and Nico Lopez are sufficient to cover the team while Destro and Lamela are unavailable.
We all knew that already. It's like he never wanted to succeed in the first place. How was he expecting to have any sort of communication with the defense is beyond me.
This is odd. Bradley has been in Italy for the same amount of time as Stek and he sounds damn near fluent. I wonder how the Italian is of some of the other newer players who have been in Italy as long as Stek . It would reflect really poorly on any player, let alone a goalkeeper, to not learn the language of the country you are playing in.
It's pretty obvious now that Stek is a very arrogant guy. He expects others to bend around his desires. I still can't believe he hasn't learned Italian, you'd really have to be an idiot not to even try.
New languages don't come easily for everyone but, yes, the seeming lack of effort is inexcusable. With his salary he should/could have a 24/7 tutor as well. I didn't speak a word when I moved to Italy and it didn't really come as easy for me as it did for many. However, you have to just keep trying and do all you can to be part of the group even if it's difficult and you're missing things. The worst thing you can do is give up and isolate yourself.
Roma (4-3-3): Goicoechea; Piris, Castan, Burdisso, Balzaretti; Bradley, Tachtsidis, Florenzi; Pjanic, Osvaldo, Totti
