Reading. It's fun-damental. http://www.dispatch.com/content/blogs/covering-the-crew/2014/03/offthefield-updates.html 'Tuesday, the Crew received unanimous approval from the Columbus Graphics Commission to add LED signage to the north and east sides of Crew Stadium. Any construction on those – or the marquee the club received approval for last season – would not begin until a naming-rights partner was signed, McCullers said.'
It's not as uncommon as one might hope. Could be worse--there was a World Cup game where both teams bought white jerseys and the "away" team had to wear the other side's away shirts. 1978, I think it was. Paul Lukas of ESPiN has a column he writes on jerseys that regularly features such errors.
Man - with MM out, I thought it might be a while before KG the Front Office Defender did his thing, but bingo here he is...defending the new equipment guy. Well not exactly a defensive statement...but deflecting for sure.
Well, this is a stupid thing to complain about. This isn't anywhere NEAR the first time a player's name has been misspelled on a jersey. It's happened a lot more often than you probably think. Hell, I remember watching a Cincinnati Reds game once where they misspelled the name of the city on the FRONT of the uniform.
Yes, you can. Just set your browser to "private browsing". It resets the cookies to zero while you are on that setting, so you can read 4-6 articles for free. Do that each time and it is essentially unlimited access.
No--more due to my interest in sports uniforms. See http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/10666905/uni-watch-see-all-changes-baseball-season if you want a taste of Paul's work. I've been a fan of it for years. I'll admit to being a uniform geek.... Here's a good one from the latest column
Super. I guess I assumed they used a legit method like logging IPs each month rather than just checking a cookie.
Is it safe to assume this was coordinated with the FO and that the tickets sales people even knew about it?
Considering the person you're quoting, I'd say so. It's standard protocol to put away fans in that section, so I'm not sure what the alternative would have been.
And it's a really dull drive, I do it once or twice a year. Bus trip would be no problem though, surprised more teams don't do that from cities like Philly to here.
Misspelling names may be common but the guy who did it to Higuain should still be fired for disrespecting the name. This also reminds me of something that happened to my brother years ago. He bought a McBride Everton jersey back when he was on loan with them. He gets the jersey and its spelled, "McBirde".
The part I hate the most is I-70 from about Washington to New Stanton, due to the narrow lanes and Our Bridge of Perpetual Construction in Belle Vernon, so we usually take the back roads thru Mt. Pleasant. Didn't know you had a Philly connection.
I don't personally have any relation to Philly, but we have good friends there we visit, and I have relatives in NYC so we go the same route.
