Contingent upon England qualifying for the world cup. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/england-plan-to-tour-brazil-next-940055
Wow that would be nice. I'd definitely go, and hopefully I'll be in Brazil in that some year as well.
This would be apart of the WC send off tour. The last one took place in Philly and Connecticut, which is understandable, since they had to fly to South Africa. This is different. They only have to fly down south to Brazil. So these matches can take place anywhere around the US. Also, Miami again? If I recall, AZ drew 22,403 for a USMNT friendly featuring the scrubs. & Miami (South Florida) only drew 21,900 for the 1st team. So you're telling me that South Florida should host another friendly after proving in October 2011 that they don't have the fan base to support a USMNT game?
This. And Miami's game fell in the midst of tropical storm-like weather and still drew a decent number (better than the last games held at Red Bull Arena and Home Depot Center).
http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/destination/cities/index.html Climate varies across Brazil, in what is its winter season: Porto Alegre cool: http://weatherspark.com/averages/33403/6/Porto-Alegre-Rio-Grande-do-Sul-Brazil Fortaleza hot: http://weatherspark.com/averages/33419/6/Fortaleza-Ceara-Brazil
Exactly. The flight from Miami (or even Tampa) to Brasil isn't bad. The flight from England to west coast USA to Miami would be beyond brutal. Geographically speaking, Miami makes sense.
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/dec/07/england-world-cup-brazil This one may be happening after all given the Manaus draw for England.
The Stars and Stripes taking on England in Miami makes sense to me as you do want to play in a somewhat similar temp as you will in Brazil. I remember when this match first came up Miami was mentioned as the likely place before the notion of playing in DC popped up.
I'd consider booking my flights around a stop over in miami for this game but for some reason I feel like I'm going to be light on cash come July. Can't figure out why though.
One, there's no way a bus from chicago is cheaper than a plane. Two: it's not the transport I'm worried about.
Well, looks like this won't be happening. Apparently Miami is too humid and they're looking toward the west coast for the send-off friendlies. Makes no sense to me, but whatever. http://soccer.si.com/2014/01/09/england-world-cup-miami-friendlies-honduras-ecuador-usa/
England will probably play Ecuador in Boca Raton and sell out that 30K stadium. In the other match at Sunlife they will probably draw 50k+ due to all the Hondurans and Euro snob wannabes.
Correction: I meant the US basing itself on the West Coast and finding Miami to be "too humid" to serve as prep for Brazil struck me as odd.
Yep, especially since our games are in the Amazon and the northeastern corner of Brazil. You know average highs of 87 degrees with 83% humidity.
