I was a big fan of the first two games and I'm pleasantly surprised we are going to get a third installment after all. The action has moved from New York City to São Paulo. Max is no longer a police detective, he now works as a private security contractor for a wealthy Brazilian family. Not a lot of details yet, but the few screenshots that have been released and the above setting and premise seem to suggest that this might be more like "Man on Fire - the video game". If that's the case, I'm all in! Some screenshots here: http://img35.imageshack.us/slideshow/webplayer.php?id=34359233.jpg

Based on that, it does look like the plot will be "Max Payne meets Man on Fire set in São Paulo". Some more info about the game here: http://pc.ign.com/articles/119/1197638p1.html

No one playing this? I picked it up yesterday, but haven't gotten around to really playing it yet. All I did was quickly install it and start it up once yesterday. With the footie on tonight, it might be tomorrow or Sunday before I can give it a serious spin. What I did notice: four dual layer DVDs! The installed size is around 30 GB. That is crazy to think of. It's really not all that long ago when games still fit on a single CD-rom.
My opinion now that I've played it some: I would definitely recommend it to fans of the series. However, don't expect anything groundbreaking. It's basically a straight-up continuation of the old gameplay, just with contemporary (and quite beautiful) graphics. And a Max who is more depressed and grim than ever.
I loved it too. However, the tie-ins with the previous two games were really minor, apart from some winks to former characters in the flash-backs...
yea true that. The story wasn't the best either, but i had a ton more fun this time around. I guess it's because of the even more depressing and ********ed up Max is. He really fell off the wagon in this one. Had the story been just a little better, with a little more character development to make you actually want to relive it again and again it would have been a masterpiece. I beat the first two a few times each, this one i beat a couple of times but the story didn't quite stick as much. Multiplayer is quite fun as well
You're probably right but the shooting felt frustrating and I never played the previous two games. From what I did play I dug the art style.
Played the first two back when they came out, from what I can remember this one (and probably because its the newest too) is by far the best. enjoyed this more then the last uncharted
