Should we maybe have Rot-Weiss Ahlen or SC Paderborn in the thread title?

Taylor finished the season with 30 games, all starts, and 17 goals. He was rated an average of 3.2 by Kicker, and even got a 1.0 for a 2-goal performance against Rot-Weiss Erfurt, whatever a 1.0 in the 3Bundesliga means. His average rating is 88th best among 3Liga players, 11th best among 3Liga forwards, and 3rd best on Rot-Weiss Ahlen.

A different spin-->11th best rating among forwards but only two forwards scored more goals. He scored more than a third of his team's league goals.

And after being in the drop zone for seven weeks in a row, Ahlen moved up to 15th with a game left in the season thanks to a 4-3 win over Erfurt which included two goals by Taylor. He may be leaving, but it is nice to see that Ahlen did not go down.

That's the game he was rated a 1. Did he score the game-winning goal or something?

In any case, a very successful season for Matt in BL3.

    It's the anti-American conspiracy.

They very likely will go down anyway. The club very narrowly escaped going into insolvency mid-season, but as of now they don't have the funds to play next season. A club official said 2 weeks ago that Ahlen doesn't have enough money to play 6th division next season.

Updated: the club has gone into insolvency now and is relegated because of this anyway.

Taylor came on at the half and scored the equalizer in Paderborn's 1-1 home draw with Fortuna Dusseldorf today.

Tryna Put that bread on the table, will be interesting to see how prolific he will be this season. He is kinda old but you gotta think if he can get 10-15 goals some bigger clubs may notice. Maybe not first division teams but the bigger 2nd division ones.

YA has amazed me today, here youve got a guy who couldnt make a living wage in the usa playing soccer and you gotta think he is making at least a couple hundred grand in germany

And then you have this kid who is on the edges of the us youth system signs a 5 year deal with liverpool and is loaned the the belgian champs and is expected to compete for minutes this season.

    Crazy world we live in.

We need Taylor to play in a few national team friendlies. I realize he plays in the German lower divisions, but our striker pool is hopeless and borderline putrid; especially if Jozy does not pull it together in Holland.

Taylor seems to have at least a finishing touch.

Strictly speaking, he's in the same league as Edson Buddle (and on a slightly better team) and is actually a few months younger. No one is getting too worked up over Buddle's status with the team, but no one is really opposed to him getting called in. In fact, there's a thread on USA N&A from an ESPN piece that suggests he be called in again. Other than whatever weight his 2010 MLS season carries (not much, I reckon), I'm not sure an argument exists for Buddle that doesn't exist for Taylor. Heck, Kenny Cooper was called up for the last two qualifiers while in BL2 (and qualification wasn't assured).

I'm also not convinced that BL2 is any lower than MLS (the fact that it's bought from MLS suggests the opposite) or Sweden and Norway (both of which have supplied attackers in the past).

Re: Matt Taylor to FSV Frankfurt

Unfortunately, BL2 is unquestionably better than MLS. IMHO The average to above average BL2 teams (like 1860 Munich) are on par with top MLS teams.

The top teams last year (such as Hertha) were significantly better than anything in MLS.

I know they're just highlights, but you rarely, if ever, see highlights that good in MLS.

Taylor seems to have found his "sweet spot". But even if he scored 10-15 goals this season, I can't see him getting a call-up. He's 30 already and I doubt Bradley is aware of him. Even if CD never gets a call-up again, or Wondolowski being a complete flop, Buddle getting a few call ups, we still have Jozy and guys like Bunbury/Agudelo on the way. Oh and Gomez, who seemed to do well when he got his call-ups.
