I think Beckerman sits not because of the free kick errors but because the Jamaican strategy was to attack him 1v1 every chance they got. This forced Edu to play almost as a dual #6 beside him further limiting chances for midfield attacks.

We can't afford that if we bring on another attacker like Shea

Both Demps and JK were quoted as saying the midfield was a diamond with Demps at the point fwiw. And a few players mentioned needing width and crosses.

They will be looking for more width. Could this be the moment we see Fabio in midfield or does JK think Williams adds "width" -

Think we should have started with Shea in favor of Williams or Torres, but overall pretty pleased...no Beckerman.

    Shocked.....

    Line up for tonight:

    ------------------------------------------Howard--------------------------------------
    --------------------------------Cameron--------Boca---------------------------------
    Cherundolo--------------------------------------------------------------F. Johnson
    ------------------------------------Williams------------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------Jones---------------------------------
    ---------------Zusi---------------------------------------------------------------------
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------Torres-------------
    -----------------------------------------Dempsey----------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------------Herc-------------------------

I hope Torres can attack. Personally, I'd have put Shea instead of Zusi.... but that may be TOO loose and open for counter attacks....

Torres stinks it up, Shea's in for him.

Seeing Williams at his natural position is promising. I'm surprised Zusi is in there to be honest and I don't know if Jozy is really deserving of the bench, considering he basically had zero service on Friday.

I like Zusi. He sends in a great ball and has some good solid skill. Who would you rather have there .... Spector???

    Not confident.

Basically, Torres needs to have the best game he's ever had for us at LW to even make that an acceptable choice, and Zusi needs to have the game of his life.

    Not holding my breath.

ives is saying its a 4-1-3-2

I was expecting more of a flat 4-4-2 when seeing the lineup. Not sure Jones is an attacking center mid and not sure Torres can play on the left

But with the players called in, i guess this as close to an attacking lineup as you can get

    4-1-3-2?

Williams as a deep DM behind jones, flanked by Zusi and Torres?

This is going to be interesting.

I don't see how this helps Clint, given neither Torres or Zusi are good wide, and instead of counting on Edu/Jones/Becks to get him involved, he's now depending on Williams/Jones centrally, which might not be better than Fri, Torres out left where he hasn't found the ball yet, and Zusi pinched in in the biggest game of his career, where he has no chemistry with Clint as of yet, in games.
